in Zambales Lifesaving training that, any lifeguard should practice CPR at least once a month. Most lifeguards in the Philippines come from Swimming or Surfing backgrounds, all of which have competitions of some sorts during the year, this is another are that needs some attention as there is fat too often clashes in events that cause a competitor to have to choose what to compete in when events clash, as there is no liaison between these groups as to setting dates that do not clash, a perfect example is that in March Zambales Lifesaving set and advertised it’s dates for moth it’s Nippers Carnival, lifesaving sports for kids 5 years to 17 years and its Lifeguard Challenge for November 27 and 28 respectively, only to recently find out that a National swimming event and a surfing event were also scheduled some time later for the same dates, which has forced Zambales Lifesaving to reschedule these events to January 27 and 28 next year, due to lack of participants brought about by the events being scheduled on the same dates. Ideally in the near future all organizations can get together and set dates that do not clash, this giving competitors more opportunities to compete. The Lifesaving Challenge run by Zambales Lifesaving is open to all lifeguards and all surfers that hold a water safety and rescue certification, additionally only The Lifesaving Challenge run by Zambales Lifesaving is open to all lifeguards and all surfers that hold a water safety and rescue certification... one team member has to be certified to help spread lifesaving sports throughout the community and encourage more people to become or be capable of becoming lifesavers. Zambales Lifesaving involvement in lifesaving sports is quite impressive, competing in events in Zambales, Cebu, Boracay, Bantayan Island, Negros and Phuket Thailand, a total of 21 events in the past 9 years (excluding the 2019-2021 Covid years when nothing was permitted to be run) results as follows: Boracay: 1 year:2nd in Non-PRC (outsiders) division. Cebu: 6 years, Champions 5 consecutive years. 1 No place due to “Bonus Points” Great Titan: 2 years, 2 teams, 2 X 1st . 1 X 2nd . and 1 X 4th. Phuket Thailand: 3 years, 2 X 2nd. , 1 X 1st. Plus 1st. in the Female division. 2018 Zambales: 9 years, 2 teams, 8 X 1st. , 9 X 2nd. and 1 X 3rd. The Zambales events have hosted entries from Boracay, Cebu, Manila, Dumaguete, Singapore and Sabah Malaysia and many Zambales resorts. 110 Since 2013 all Lifeguards and Lifeguard training is by the Philippine Coast Guard and accredited training organizations, such as Zambales Lifesaving Inc. however as yet we have not seen a Philippine Coast Guard team compete is any lifesaving sports competitions that we know of, it would be nice to see them send a team sometime.
