Despite the convenience of supplements, the modern diet often falls short in
providing essential nutrients. The U.S. Department of Agriculture identifies
common deficiencies in calcium, potassium, fiber, magnesium, and vitamins A, C,
D, and E among adult Americans.1 It is important to address these deficiencies
through a healthy and balanced diet. This would be a variety of whole foods,
emphasizing the importance of consuming sufficient protein, leafy greens, fruits,
vegetables, and whole grains.1
supplements pose health risks. High doses of
increased risk of mortality.2 These findings
rise the concerns about the safety and
efficacy of supplements.
