VIABLE SOLUTIONS
The Rebuilders Campus @ Brown Mill Commons
CCM purchased ten acres in June 2023, with the
help of Cabarrus County ARP funds, to develop
a residential campus and commercial center on
Cabarrus Avenue in Concord. The Rebuilders
Campus will create forty-eight individual family
apartments in Phase One and eventually ninetysix
total units in an educational environment built
around the Path to Stability model.
Comprehensive services will be integrated into
a structured curriculum that includes financial,
social, educational and vocational benchmarks.
The controlled environment will include childcare
services, educational supports, healthy activities
and a safe community atmosphere. Phase One
will double CCM’s transitional housing capacity to
serve Cabarrus County households in 2026. Ten
million dollars of the fourteen million needed for
Phase One has been committed.
Brown Mill Commons is developing concurrently
as Phase Two of the project to create
opportunities for local businesses with interest
in providing employment and training to campus
and area residents. Cabarrus Health Alliance
(CHA) will provide community health services
as an anchor tenant at the location. Vocational
training and a variety of community services
will broaden the impact of the new epicenter on
Concord’s emerging gateway.
Grace Place @ Caremoor
Grace Place was originally designed to serve
senior adults in housing crisis. Most often these
are extremely low fixed-income seniors living
alone. In December 2023 CCM purchased
Caremoor Retirement Community with the help
of ARP funding from the city of Kannapolis. The
partnership with the city and the opportunity
presented by Caremoor invites the inclusion of
families with children into the Grace Place model.
Caremoor will continue to operate as a licensed
assisted living community to serve seniors with
an excellent standard of care in a supervised
environment. CCM will coordinate with the
administrator over time to design, plan and
renovate some of the campus facilities to
incorporate children into the campus environment.
Grace Place at Caremoor will create a healthy
and stimulating environment for both young and
not-so-young to find purpose and fulfillment at an
important stage in their life. Three million dollars
of the five million needed for Grace Place @
Caremoor has been committed.
URGENT REQUEST
CCM is moving forward at sixty-eight percent of the funding raised because we cannot
lose another day in developing a solution to our housing crisis. As we move forward, we
need the greatest response ever from our Cabarrus community to create and deliver
these vital resources.
