PlanBEE Rail is a new and unique higher
apprenticeship programme designed to
recruit and train the next generation of
multidisciplinary project managers.
You’ll be employed from day one, learning ‘on the
job’ for four days per week, gaining experience
working on major projects including the
TransPennine Route Upgrade Programme, Digital
Railway Programme & Northern Powerhouse Rail.
You’ll work with four different companies over the
two-year programme so that you gain the
breadth of knowledge, skills, and experience,
needed to succeed in your future career as a
project manager. Placements will be undertaken
in the York, Leeds, Doncaster, and Huddersfield
areas, working on projects across the north of
England.

PlanBEE Rail Provides a pathway to progression into full
time employment in rail or further study at a wide range
of Universities.
You will complete a Higher Apprenticeship programme in
Associate Project Management.
You will spend one day a week studying and developing your
knowledge of the rail industry and project management and will
be taught about different stages of the project lifecycle including
design, development, delivery and close-out, through a
combination of lectures, tutorials, field work and site visits.
Throughout your apprenticeship you will be developing a range
of skills and behaviours which are key to a project management
role in the rail sector, alongside transferable skills like team
working, leadership, innovative thinking and communication.

To be eligible to apply, you will need the following:

GCSE Maths, Science and English at grade 4 or above,
3 A Levels at grade C or above, or a BTEC Extended
Diploma (averaging merits/distinctions), or the
equivalent of 96 UCAS points
Eligibility to live, work and study in the UK
In return, you’ll receive a starting salary of £22,000+
per year, your tuition fees paid, a pension plan and a
generous holiday entitlement every year.
