ENDOWMENTS: SUPPORTING STUDENTS

NOW AND IN THE FUTURE

An endowment is a gift that will provide funding in

perpetuity for the Lewisburg Area School District. The

principal funds are preserved, while a small percentage

(usually 4 percent) of funds is available each year for

distribution to the LASD. It is a perfect way to establish

an enduring legacy in honor or memory of a loved one. It

also creates a stream of permanent funding and can be

structured to benefit the donor’s particular interest.

The Green Dragon Foundation is focused on matching

donor interests to the academic, arts, athletic, and

support program opportunities that exist throughout

the district. To accomplish this goal, the GDF seeks

support for program-specific endowments, both general

and named, the income from which will support LASD

programming for the life of the fund. Endowment funds

allow our educators to be creative and innovative and can

therefore more fully engage students.

The GDF continues to work with donors to create

named endowments. To date, GDF has collaborated with

donors to establish 18 named permanent endowments.

Additionally, GDF has created seven endowments which

cover specific areas that LASD has identified. Four

quasi-endowments are invested but both their income

and principal may be spent as needed. The stories on the

following pages demonstrate how funds distributed from

these endowments were used to benefit students during

the 2022-23 school year. The impact on our students and

teachers cannot be underestimated.

If creating an endowment for the benefit of current and future

Lewisburg area students meets your philanthropic goals,

please contact the GDF for more information.
