Beautiful
Belmont
Belmont near Faversham is often described as a ‘hidden gem’ of Kent,
although perhaps not so hidden if you caught this elegant 18th century
house – designed by Samuel Wyatt – and its glorious grounds on the
Antiques Roadshow last year. The country house contains a number
of impressive collections including Britain’s largest collection of
Cazabon paintings and an extraordinary collections of clocks
and watches. There are also the gorgeous gardens and cricket
pitch (fixtures on website) to explore, amid this 3,000 acre
estate. Best of all the tearoom is open all year round! They
are hosting a number of events over the next few months
including some tempting workshops. How about trying
your hand at macrame, linocut printing, wild classroom
family cooking or taking a tour of the clock collection
or herb garden. We’ve got our eye on the paper
peony workshop – run by Nicola Chatten from
Plant and Paper – on May 13th. Take a look
at the website and see what takes your fancy.
