AEEDC Dubai
2024 concludes
with US$5bn worth
of trade deals
The 28th UAE International Dental Conference
and Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC
Dubai 2024) concluded on 8 Feb with a
groundbreaking record of business deals
amounting to US$5bn (AED19bn) and 70,000
attendees and participants representing
180 countries. HH Sheikh Mansoor bin
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vicechairman
of the Dubai Health Board of
Directors, inaugurated the event on 6 Feb.
Organised annually by INDEX Conferences
and Exhibitions Org LLC, the conference
and exhibition attracted a vast gathering
featuring 5,328 brands represented by 3,924
international companies specialising in oral
health supplies and dental technology.
The exhibition floor spanned 59,074sqm 2
across Halls 1–8 of the Dubai World Trade
Centre with 12 international pavilions
present representing Italy, Brazil, Switzerland,
Germany, Türkiye, South Korea, China, Spain,
Italy, Russia, France, and the US.
The Emirates Pediatric Dentistry Club (EPDC)
Forum, in collaboration with esteemed
scientific partners including the Saudi Society
of Pediatric Dentistry and the American
Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, convened
on the second day of AEEDC Dubai, offering
a comprehensive programme addressing
critical issues in paediatric dental care.
The forum commenced with a thoughtprovoking
session on ‘Challenges Associated
with Dental Treatment of Medically
Compromised Children’ presented by Dr Aziza
Johar Aljohar. His insights shed light on the
complexities and considerations involved
in treating paediatric patients with medical
conditions, providing valuable perspectives
for dental practitioners. Following this, Dr
Deema Farsi led a discussion on ‘Bridging
the Gap Between the Medical and Dental
Teams’, emphasising the importance of
interdisciplinary collaboration in delivering
holistic healthcare to paediatric patients.
The second day of AEEDC Dubai 2024
unfolded with a series of insightful scientific
lectures delivered by renowned figures in
the dental field. The dynamic programme
lineup further included the AEEDC Scientific
Conference, Advanced Specialty Courses, and
engaging competitions such as the Poster
Competition and AEEDC Student Competition.
On the third day, AEEDC Dubai 2024 hosted
the 21st annual meeting of the Global
Scientific Dental Alliance (GSDA), a gathering
that drew 383 members from across the
globe. These delegates represented 184
international medical organisations, hospitals,
academic institutions, dental associations,
global health ministries, and various
governmental and private sectors.
The GSDA, a non-profit organisation dedicated
to advancing education and scientific
research, is one of 32 alliances operating
under the umbrella of the International
Congress for Health Specialties (ICHS), which
tackles pressing challenges in over 438
specialties and branches of the medical and
healthcare landscape.
During the meeting, Global Dental Alliance
launched the ‘GSDA 2024 Declaration’, a
collective initiative that is designed as a
strategic framework providing essential
guidelines, recommendations, and solutions
to steer future innovations and improvements,
and consists of eight main pillars.
These pillars include leadership in dentistry,
dental operational efficiency, dental innovation
advancement, dental education, patientcentric
dental care, dental community
engagement, sustainable dental practices,
and dental procedure guidelines and policy
excellence.
"Through this annual meeting, we seek to
emphasise the importance of continuous
education and scientific research to promote
the message of the dissemination of science
and knowledge. There is no ceiling to
developing the dental and oral health sector,”
said His Excellency Amb Dr Abdulsalam
AlMadani, PAM roving ambassador for
the GCC Region, executive chairman for
AEEDC Dubai, and the GSDA. “Consequently,
I extend an invitation to all scientific
bodies and organisations specialising in
dentistry to collaborate and contribute to
the dissemination of the noble scientific
message by engaging in this global forum
annually.”
Anas AlMadani, vice-chairman and group
CEO of INDEX Holding, reflected on the
future of AEEDC Dubai, stating: "There will
be a strong and remarkable presence of
AI in the dental and digital transformation
sectors. Our adaptation to these technological
advancements is crucial for integrating with
the future outlook of the dental and oral health
sectors."
He added: "AEEDC Dubai will witness a
significant and distinctive presence of
institutions and companies specialising in the
digital industry, which we believe is essential
to the advancement of this sector, and we are
happy to announce that there will be three
additional halls next year in AEEDC Dubai." DA
