How do X-rays work?
When we have an X-ray, we must
stand or lie very still. A machine
sends X-rays through our body
and takes a picture of the things
it cannot pass through. The X-ray
machine helps doctors see things,
like teeth and bones, that are inside
our bodies.
What do doctors use X-rays for?
Doctors use X-rays to check on our
health. If we fall and hurt ourselves,
they might take an X-ray to see
if our bones are okay. X-rays also
help doctors understand if anything
unusual is happening inside
our bodies.
Are X-rays safe?
While X-rays are helpful and safe,
we only have them when they are
essential. Some scientists say that
too many X-rays might be harmful,
so doctors are careful to use them
only when they need to check on
our health. When we have an X-ray,
we must wear a special shield to
protect the parts of our body that
do not need the X-rays.
Conclusion
X-rays are like special lights that help doctors see inside our bodies.
The next time you hear about someone having an X-ray, you will
know that it is just a way to make sure they stay healthy and happy.
