A real treat for classical music
lovers and all in the stunning
Surrey countryside! This fabulous
festival promises magnificent
performances by inspirational
world-class musicians. Dame
Sarah Connolly will sing a very
special programme of Bach and
Handel arias with leading early
music ensemble, the English
Concert (Sat 18 May) at Holy
Trinity Guildford; the gorgeous
Mendelssohn Octet will perform
with leading chamber players (Sat
11 May) at RHS Wisley; Sharon
Kam and the award-winning
Sitkovetsky Trio will play the
Mozart Clarinet Quintet (Thurs
9 May) plus a spectacular concert
for two pianos including Festival
Artistic Director Wu Qian and
featuring the winning entry
in the 2024 Young Composer
competition (Thurs 16 May).

FLOWER FESTIVAL
‘THE JOY OF MUSIC’
This little country church will be
alive with flowers from garden
and hedgerow, celebrating the
joy that music brings to all our
lives. Children from the school
and local Scouts and Guides will
take part, together with the art
group from Canterbury Oast
Trust, a local charity that supports
adults with learning disabilities.
All ages, all experiences, and
all adding their wonderful
flowery touch. Refreshments
will be available all day.

new home, complete with an
exceptional roof that’s perfect for
stargazing, The Festival Theatre at
Hever Castle have programmed an
array of star-studded events this
year including loads of returning
festival favourites, and many
new artists and events dotted
amongst the programme. The
opening week boasts a diverse
mix, from jazz and opera to
musical performances, family fun
and comedy. The Ronnie Scott’s
Club are featuring highly with
three different Ronnie’s groups
including The Jazz Dynamos
re-imagining songs from the 70s
& 80s. Nestled in the enchanting,
award-winning gardens of Hever
Castle, festival spots (including
The Loggia, Main Lawn and
Two Sisters’ Theatre) promise
many magical moments.

& Drink Festival in the town’s
beautiful castle grounds close to
the banks of the picturesque River

delicious range of food and drink
produced in and around Kent and

tasty cheeses, breads, cakes, sweet
treats such as fudge and chocolate

ShyneFest has become a regular
feature on the Surrey music
scene and this year there will be
a great array of fun activities for
the whole family to get involved
with, including varied food and
drink outlets and festival stalls.
