azaleas, camellias and conifers.<br />

OPEN GARDENS<br />

This is Reading Street’s fifth open<br />

garden event. Gardens range from<br />

a small cottage garden to an award<br />

winning wildlife one, a Dragon<br />

garden with surprises for the little<br />

ones plus Taddy’s Allotments. All<br />

gardens are within 5 to 10 minutes<br />

walk from St Andrew’s Church.<br />

There will be plant and produce<br />

sales, as well as refreshments<br />

and lunches available in the<br />

Community Hall and a fabulous<br />

cake stall. Tickets are available<br />

from various points in the village.<br />

FLETCHING GARDEN TRAIL<br />

The Garden Trail guarantees<br />

fun for all, including children’s<br />

activities, a raffle and a popular<br />

plant and seed sale. Some of the<br />

gardens have featured in national<br />

publications so it promises to be<br />

a visual treat. The Garden Café<br />

will be situated on the Village Rec,<br />

serving delicious light lunches,<br />

refreshments and homemade cakes<br />

throughout the day, all set in an<br />

idyllic location. Tickets should be<br />

purchased on the day from the<br />

school playground (contactless<br />

card machine available). Included<br />

in your entry fee is a brochure<br />

which includes a map to help<br />

you navigate your way from<br />

exquisite garden to garden.<br />

SONG AWARDS FINAL<br />

We’re so thrilled to hear about<br />

this year’s final. Eight immensely<br />

talented singers and their pianists<br />

will compete for prizes worth<br />

over £5000, to be awarded at<br />

the end of the evening. This<br />

is a wonderful opportunity to<br />

hear these exciting young artists<br />

perform settings of some of our<br />

greatest poetry by composers<br />

from the British Isles and Ireland.<br />

The Judges include Dame<br />

Felicity Lott and – for one prize<br />

– the audience! Tickets include<br />

a programme and an interval<br />

drink and are available online<br />

and from Rother Books on Battle<br />

High Street. On the door tickets<br />

are cash only please. This is an<br />

accessible event with free parking.<br />
