When Mountains Meet :: At Mareel, Shetland. The<br />

captivating cross-cultural tale tells the true story of<br />

Scottish musician Anne Wood as she travels from the<br />

Highlands to the Himalayas to meet her father for the<br />

first time. Featuring an international cast of<br />

storytellers and musicians, the show features a<br />

vibrant live score combining alap, raag, reel and<br />

strathspey, as well as English, Gaelic and Hindustani<br />

vocals. ‘The When Mountains Meet’ album will be<br />

released on 25 April. Featuring new music composed<br />

by Anne, the show is co-directed by Kath Burlinson<br />

(Mairi Campbell: Pulse and Auld Lang Syne) and Niloo<br />

-Far Khan (Play, Pie, Pint; Grid Iron/EIF; NTS) with<br />

Mary MacMaster (The Poozies) on harp, Rick Wilson on<br />

percussion and Rakae Jamil on sitar. The cast of<br />

storytellers is Iman Aktar (The Great Muslim Panto,<br />

Play, Pie, Pint), Hassan Javed (The Great Muslim<br />

Panto, Play, Pie, Pint) and Jamie Zubari (In The<br />

SKERRYVORE :: At Skye Live 2024, Portree. From<br />

their traditional Tiree roots Skerryvore have developed<br />

both in size and sound to create a unique fusion of<br />

their traditional music and songs with the urban<br />

sounds of rock, pop and funk. The band’s ability to<br />

fuse traditional Scottish music and rhythms with a<br />

range of other genres is a trademark of their<br />

KING CREOSOTE :: At An Lanntair, Stornoway.<br />

Following sold out shows in London and Edinburgh<br />

including two performances at Queens Hall, King<br />

Creosote is pleased to announce the “Any Port in a<br />

Storm” tour of Scottish and Northern English coastal<br />

towns and islands. At the tail end of last year, King<br />

Creosote released the excellent I DES, his first album<br />

in seven years. The record’s kaleidoscopic musical<br />

terrain plots vibraphones, accordions, e-bows,<br />

samplers, ungulates, pipes, scratched records and<br />

wine glass-drones across its landscape.<br />

DOUGIE MacLEAN - Celebrating 50 Year of<br />

Music :: At An Lanntair, Stornoway. Dougie MacLean<br />

has built an international reputation as songwriter,<br />

composer and extraordinary performer on his own<br />

terms. This talent has taken his performance to<br />

concerts and festivals all over the world and to the<br />

stages of Carnegie Hall in New York, London’s Festival<br />

Theatre and the Sydney Opera House. Other<br />

appearances of note include sharing the stage with<br />

Lou Reed and Eddi Reader in the grounds of Culzean<br />

Castle at the Burns and A’ That festival, featuring on<br />

the BBC Hogmanay programme from Edinburgh Castle<br />

with James Taylor and sharing the bill with the<br />

legendary Mavis Staples at Glasgow‘s Royal Concert<br />

DAVE ARCARI / ANDRES ROOTS :: At HAC,<br />

Irvine. This double-header tour sees Arcari and<br />

special guest Roots bring their respective sounds<br />

to stages around Scotland. Slide guitarist &<br />

songwriter Dave Arcari’s alt.blues sounds owe<br />

as much to trash country, punk and rockabilly as<br />

they do pre-war Delta blues and have been<br />

showcased via seven internationally-acclaimed<br />

solo album releases. After a successful<br />

Kickstarter campaign his latest album ‘Devil May<br />

Care’ was released on limited edition red vinyl in<br />

November 2023. An official Ambassador for the<br />

2024 European Capital of Culture, Andres<br />

Roots is a slide guitarist from Tartu, Estonia<br />

whose music has received airplay on five<br />

continents and whose Golden Disc-earning 2016<br />

LP “Roots Music” remains the only blues album<br />
