quantify is the cost savings. Thanks to
a 5% discount offered through LaMATS
to all Louisiana local governments and
school systems, Precision Concrete
Cutting of Louisiana was able to save
Gonzales almost $5,000 so far, which
covered the cost of the pilot project.
And by repairing instead of replacing
the damaged panels, the City has saved
more than 70% of the total cost of new
concrete.
Are they pleased? “We couldn’t be happier,”
said Baumann. Not only has the
project netted a reduction in resident
work orders and complaints, but every
aspect of the project also got high marks
from city staff. Baumann and Mayor
Arceneaux jointly praised Precision for
“their partnership, their workmanship,
organization, and documentation. Every
piece of the project, from the office to
the field, has been very efficient.”
Asked how she would recommend other
communities address a similar trip
hazard reduction project, Baumann suggests
they start small. “Start with a small
pilot project area, just a couple thousand
dollars worth, and see the value in
that. The community will probably realize
then that they can take the initiative
to a much bigger project scope.”
