MAKE-UP WORK AFTER ABSENCES
Due to illness or other excused absences:
Any student absent from classes is required to make up all work missed.
If a student is unable to do his/her assignments while out of school, additional
time will be granted to make up the work. The time frame for making up work
will be equal to the number of days absent from class; however, appropriate
extensions may be granted by teachers and/or administration. It is the
responsibility of the student to contact his/her teachers to obtain the work and
additional help, if needed, to make up the work. Full credit will be issued for
work completed within the time frame.
Due to suspension or other discipline related issues:
• Any student absent from classes is required to make up all work missed.
They will receive assignments from their teachers. Work is also available
on the teacher’s homework page on the MMU webpage. Students return
from suspension will be expected to have all assignments completed and be
expected to take any quizzes or tests without extension. Work not
completed upon return will receive a zero (0). Extensions can only be
granted by the administration.
• Any long term assignments that are due during the suspension period will
need to be submitted by the due date.
Due to class cut:
• If a student cuts a class or has an unexcused absence, they may receive a
zero (0) for that day’s assignments, including quizzes or tests taken that
day.
Suspension during mid-year or final exams:
Students suspended during mid-year or final exams are expected to make up all
exams after returning from suspension. The attendance secretary will obtain
assignments and review activities daily, and they will be available at the end of
the school day, outside the attendance office window. A schedule to make up
the exams in a timely fashion will be established by his/her counselor in
consultation with the classroom teachers.
SENIOR PRIVILEGES
Seniors in good academic standing and with no property due will not be
assigned to a study hall and may leave the building whenever they do not have
a class assigned. This does not include their assigned lunch time during their
lunch period class. During a Senior Privileges period if students decide to
remain in the building they need to stay out of all academic wings. If seniors
want to be assigned to a study hall they can make this request to their
counselor.
