ATTENDANCE OFFICE — 899-1971 Parents should call the attendance office between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. to report student absences. The Attendance Secretary will call home whenever possible to verify student absences. INFORMATION LINE The MMU information line can be reached at 899-2638 and has up to date information including cancellations, athletics, and activities. MMU ANONYMOUS TIP LINE 858-1777 If you have a concern about a school related situation, you can call the anonymous tip line. Information will be investigated and kept confidential. This line is for non-emergency situations. Please call First Call for Children and Families or 911 for all concerns involving an individual’s safety. SCHOOL CLOSING/DELAYED OPENING/EARLY DISMISSAL On days when school must be closed or the normal schedule altered because of emergency situations (weather, mechanical problems, etc.) the appropriate announcement will be made via the Connect 5 emergency notification system utilized by Chittenden East Supervisory Union. The hope of this system is that when there is a school cancellation or emergency, all individuals who wish to be notified will be. To be on the Connect 5 notification list for the “high school” group, parents should complete the information form and submit it to Maria Mitchell in the main office or maria.mitchell@cesu.k12.vt.us. The notification for a school closing will normally be announced by 6:30 a.m. The appropriate announcement will also be made on the following radio stations WDOT, WDEV, WJOY, WKOL and WVMT. A delayed opening simply means that the bus should arrive later, and that school will start later. The schedule for a delayed opening is located in this handbook. School closing/early dismissal will normally be announced by 11:30 a.m. If there is a school closing please refer to the MMU school calendar on the MMU webpage to determine if it will be an A or B day. VISITORS Parents are always welcome in the school! Visitors, students or adults, must check in at the Main Office. Visitor badges will be available and must be worn. Any student who wishes to have a guest must complete a visitor request form prior to the guest arriving at MMU. These forms are available in the front office. Anyone may be denied visiting privileges at the discretion of the administration. Students from other area high schools may NOT visit if their school is in session that day. 9
