4. Stakeholders<br />
4.1. Policy makers<br />
The ma<strong>in</strong> target group beside cultural resource managers (“Denkmalämter”, research<br />
<strong>in</strong>stitutions, university <strong>in</strong>stitutions, museums) are the policy makers, the regional <strong>and</strong> local<br />
authorities adm<strong>in</strong>ister<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> liv<strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong> the dist<strong>in</strong>ctive archaeological area. They are<br />
<strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> spatial plann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> guarantee the susta<strong>in</strong>able development based on cultural<br />
<strong>and</strong> economic considerations. This group consists of policy makers from various <strong>in</strong>stitutions<br />
(protection of cultural l<strong>and</strong>scape, plann<strong>in</strong>g authorities, rural development, regional<br />
management, agriculture) <strong>in</strong> different adm<strong>in</strong>istrative levels (national, regional, local, owner of<br />
property).<br />
4.2. BMUKK <strong>Limes</strong> Arbeitsgruppe<br />
IÖG <strong>in</strong>itiated the establishment of a Work<strong>in</strong>g Group, which was established by the M<strong>in</strong>istry of<br />
Education, Art <strong>and</strong> Culture (BMUKK). IÖG also prepared a first draft of the UNESCO<br />
Tentative List Entry, which was h<strong>and</strong>ed to the BMUKK <strong>in</strong> December 2009. This <strong>in</strong>cluded a list<br />
of all the prospective <strong>Limes</strong> sites <strong>in</strong> Austria, the justification for authenticity <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>tegrity of<br />
the Austrian <strong>Limes</strong> section <strong>and</strong> a short comparison with other parts of Roman frontiers<br />
(authors: A. Schwarcz, S. Jilek). IÖG also took part <strong>in</strong> several meet<strong>in</strong>gs of the work<strong>in</strong>g group<br />
organised by BMUKK responsible for the preparation of the Austrian <strong>Limes</strong> nom<strong>in</strong>ation<br />
(18.12.2009, 19.03.2010, 21.4.2010, 16.6.2010, 16.7.2010, 18.8.2010). The next steps, a<br />
discussion on the selection of Austrian fort sites for a prelim<strong>in</strong>ary nom<strong>in</strong>ation study, were<br />
started. Discussion concentrated on the overall selection criteria of sites, the possible choice<br />
for core <strong>and</strong> buffer zones <strong>and</strong> also <strong>in</strong>cluded a trip along the eastern part of the <strong>Limes</strong> from<br />
Zwentendorf to Schwechat (15.9.2010).<br />

4.3. Adm<strong>in</strong>istrators <strong>in</strong> the field of cultural heritage<br />
Inside the <strong>Limes</strong> Work<strong>in</strong>g Group there is a close cooperation with the Austrian Monument<br />
Preservation Authority (Bundesdenkmalamt –BDA). Dur<strong>in</strong>g a meet<strong>in</strong>g with Dr. Hebert<br />
(director of Bodendenkmalpflege, BDA) the project goals were presented.<br />
