RP89: This sweet, rich, medium to full-bodied
Chianti (all the Riservas are made from 90% Sangiovese
and 10% Canaiolo) exhibits a deep
ruby/garnet color and a moderately intense, sweet
nose of tobacco, red and black fruits, and toasty
oak. Ripe, medium to full-bodied, with excellent,
possibly outstanding richness. It is an impressive

RP87: Intense nose of cedar, tobacco, dried
flowers, and red fruits. In contrast to the 1990,
which possesses sweet, ripe tannin, the 1988
displays coarser, more rough-textured tannin, giving
the wine a more compressed and structured feel.
There is plenty of depth and ripeness, so this
should be one 1988 that turns out to be wellbalanced.
