TAKE THAT . . . . A PUNCH ON THE NOSE delivered by Kangaroo defenceman Ken Bachman,
earned him a 10 minute misconduct. A fight was already in progress when the tustle erupted. The
new ruling says that if a player joins the fun after the outbreak of a fight, he is liable to an automatic
misconduct. 'Roos won the game 13-3.
Kangaroos easily outran the
shorthanded Vanderhoof »club
Sunday. Even though the game
showed a lopsided score, the
Vanderhoof club gave it all they
had and, as is their usual custom,
gave the Quesnel fans their
money's worth.
Quesnel almost doub|l^d shots
on goal against Vanderhoof and
gave Bear goalie Nolar Risjold
a real trial under fire. In the
first period alone, Risjold was
forced to stop 22 shots by the
pressing Kangaroos.
Bears scored once in each
period displaying the never
give up spirit of the club. Jim
Silver teamed up with Finney
for their first goal and tied it
1-1 immediately after Green
scored from Joyal for the Kangaroos.
Second period goal came from
Kelly with the assist going to
Phillips. McKay got the Bear's
last goal with Finney getting
the assist again.
Other Actio.:
It's been a long time since
fans have watched a good rough
and tumble match at theQuesnel
Civic Arena, but those who
watched the display Sunday,
were reminded of the rough,
tough, scrappy, play of last season.
Unusual and quite surprising
was the ejection of Ken Bachman
from the game on a 10
minute misconduct penalty. The
new ruling is that, if a man joins
a fight after it has started, he
Is automatically out for a misconduct.
Bachman was mixing it up
with Jim Arnold who earned the
same fate.
It all started from a misunderstandlng
between Rod
Gagnon of the Kangaroos and a
Vanderhoof defenceman. The
boys were really mixing it up
when suddenly Bachman and
Arnold took sides.
Shortly -after, George Redi
and Pat Philips shared a two
minute penalty for roughing.
The great confusion resulted
in one of the longest periods
of hockey so far this year.
