Special Events<br />
Our two special events provide funds to purchase “extras” for children to<br />
experience some of the activities and hard goods many people take for<br />
granted in their everyday lives. Our Annual Tee Off Fore Children Charity<br />
Golf Tournament celebrated its 16th year in Pittsburg, KS in 2011. Despite<br />
a rainout on its original date, the following weekend in September still<br />
brought in 120 golfers to Crestwood Country Club, raising $29,570 for<br />
Kansas children. Our devoted supporter and tournament sponsor WATCO<br />
Companies, LLC made a 50% increase in their sponsorship to $15,000.<br />
To kick off the winter holiday season, our 21st Annual Holiday Benefit<br />
Auction in Emporia, KS, lived up to its Polar Express theme, “Believe,” and<br />
raised more than $14,000. Recognized at the auction was <strong>TFI</strong>’s Friend<br />
Award recipient Larry Lyons and <strong>TFI</strong>’s Corporate Friend Award recipient<br />
KVOE Radio. The honorary co-chairs of the auction were the Leek <strong>Family</strong>,<br />
in memory of <strong>TFI</strong> Corporate Secretary and Assistant to the CEO, Martha<br />
Leek. Thomas Transfer and Storage was our event sponsor. We are deeply<br />
humbled by all the generous sponsors, donors, volunteers and supporters<br />
who came together to make these two events a success!<br />
You can Make a Difference<br />
When you contribute to <strong>TFI</strong> <strong>Family</strong> <strong>Services</strong>, <strong>Inc</strong>., you are making a<br />
difference in the life of a child. Funds raised help children participate in<br />
school activities and sports, purchase extra clothing, take driver’s education<br />
class or go to summer camp.<br />
Other donations may go towards educational scholarships, independent<br />
living programs, parent training programs for foster families, respite care or<br />
ongoing upgrades to our information management systems.<br />
