Substance abuse has devastating effects on families, including unemployment, unsafe living conditions and imprisonment.<br />
As a result of this crippling affliction, children can lose their homes and their families through no fault of their own. <strong>TFI</strong><br />
<strong>Family</strong> <strong>Services</strong>, <strong>Inc</strong>. provides the Strengthening Families Program, a research-based parenting program specifically<br />
designed to assist parents who have alcohol or drug addictions. This 14-week program teaches parent and children life<br />
skills. The program’s main objective is to prevent family separation or to reunite families with children in out of home<br />
placement, thus strengthening the family unit. <strong>TFI</strong> served 116 parents and 134 children in fiscal year 2012, helping to<br />
prevent children from entering out of home placement.
