Library hosts Ontario Minister <strong>of</strong> Culture<br />

The Hon. Caroline Di Cocco visited the Central Library July 5 on a tour <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>London</strong>’s cultural institutions. She came to see the fruit <strong>of</strong> the 2006 Library<br />

Strategic Development Fund Grant which <strong>London</strong> <strong>Public</strong> Library received<br />

$35,000 for its Y<strong>out</strong>h Program Initiative LOLLYPOP detailed at right.<br />

The Library’s focus on y<strong>out</strong>h, and commitment to providing opportunities for<br />

learning, literacy and leadership <strong>programs</strong> specifically for y<strong>out</strong>h is one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

strategic directions resulting from the Library’s Strategic Plan, Imagine!<br />

Children and Y<strong>out</strong>h Coordinator Julie Brandl and Young Adult Library Anya<br />

Hleba are just two <strong>of</strong> the Library’s specialized staff working to make the Library<br />

welcoming and relevant to this important segment <strong>of</strong> the population.<br />

Join Toady, as he tears up the countryside in several hot wheels,<br />

finally a Harley-Davidson! His passion for excitement has his<br />

slower-paced sidekicks, Mole, Rat and Badger, reluctantly bailing<br />

him <strong>out</strong> <strong>of</strong> scrape after scrape, from wild rides to court, prisons and<br />

a great escape. Finally, when Toad Hall is taken over by the evil and<br />

belligerent Weasel gang from the Wild Wood, the four friends must<br />

go into action to recapture Toady’s ancestral home!<br />
