The Bavarian Forest National Park has
been awarded the European Diploma
of Protected Areas since 1986
Tree Top Trail
From the carpark 1 , the worldwide
largest tree top trail is
accessible through the entrence
tower. There, an integrated elevator
allows senior citizens,
handicapped people or parents
with push chairs to enjoy an
easy-going and comfortable
visit, too. The 1300m-long path
ends on the platform of the
impressive 44m-high viewing
tower.

Within a short walking distance, these facilities provide a wide range
of spectacular sights which make the National Park Centre Lusen a
unique experience.

Videos/Audio Slide Shows
In the cinema, audio slide shows, films or videos on natural science
are shown according to the timetable; though, they can individually
be shown on request.
The audio slide show “Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald” informs about
the state of nature in the National Park, about its objectives and
tasks, the work of the National Park Authority as well as about
interesting visitor attractions.
Library
Due to remodelling works, the
library is not open until spring
2010.
Then, a cafeteria will be integrated
and you can enjoy current
literature on ecology, fauna and
flora, geology as well as books
on the Bavarian and the Bohemian
Forest.
Young guests, mad keen on
books, will make a find in the
children‘s books department.
Exhibitions
The exhibition is completely being refurbished and an „experimental
workshop“ is being added. The facilities as a whole will be
handicapped accessible.
The opening will take place on 7 October 2010, the day the
National Park‘s 40th anniversary will be celebrated.

National Park Shop
The National Park shop run by the Bund Naturschutz Service GmbH
(Friends of the Earth Germany), offers expert literature on the subject
National Park in addition to a broad range of top-class souvenirs. A
great variety of books as well as high quality toys complete the
assortment of goods.
