<strong>Winnie</strong>-<strong>the</strong>-<strong>Pooh</strong> <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> a <strong>Spelling</strong> <strong>Tutor</strong><br />

Chr<strong>is</strong>topher Robin <strong>is</strong> <strong>the</strong> most educated friend of <strong>Winnie</strong>-<strong>the</strong>-<strong>Pooh</strong>, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> he c<strong>an</strong> spell a lot<br />

of simple words, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> even some long <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> delicate words, but unfortunately he often<br />

spells <strong>the</strong>m incorrectly. For example, he has helped Owl to write <strong>the</strong> following two<br />

notices on <strong>the</strong> door of Owl’s residence at The Chestnuts:<br />

<strong>Ples</strong> <strong>ring</strong> <strong>if</strong> <strong>an</strong> <strong>rnser</strong> <strong>is</strong> <strong>reqird</strong>. Plez cnoke <strong>if</strong> <strong>an</strong> rnsr <strong>is</strong> not reqid.<br />

Owl <strong>is</strong> very proud of <strong>the</strong>se notices, but also concerned that some of h<strong>is</strong> friends may not<br />

underst<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> <strong>the</strong>m; in fact, even Owl himself finds <strong>the</strong> notices a bit confusing.<br />

To help Chr<strong>is</strong>topher Robin with h<strong>is</strong> spelling, <strong>Winnie</strong>-<strong>the</strong>-<strong>Pooh</strong> <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> Owl have<br />

bought him <strong>an</strong> electronic spelling tutor, which pronounces various words <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> asks <strong>the</strong><br />

user to spell <strong>the</strong>m. If <strong>the</strong> user makes a m<strong>is</strong>take, <strong>the</strong> tutor shows <strong>the</strong> correct spelling, along<br />

with a comment on <strong>the</strong> accuracy of <strong>the</strong> user’s spelling; it uses four comments: almost<br />

right, quite close, a bit confusing, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> very confusing. For inst<strong>an</strong>ce, Chr<strong>is</strong>topher Robin<br />
