NAPBIrT Holds Annual Conference<br />
The National Association of<br />
Professional Band Instrument<br />
Repair Technicians, Inc. (NAP-<br />
BIRT) held its 36 th Annual International<br />
Conference from April<br />
13 to 16 at the Marriott Hotel and<br />
Conference Center in Normal Il.<br />
Almost 300 members and guests,<br />
representing Bermuda, Canada,<br />
Japan and Taiwan, as well as the<br />
U.S., were in attendance. Nearly<br />
75 were attending a NAPBIRT<br />
conference for the first time. The<br />
conference consisted of seminars<br />
by trade experts, musical instrument<br />
manufacturers and other<br />
business specialists. There were<br />
manufacturer/supplier exhibits,<br />
a business meeting and tours of<br />
area attractions. More than 25<br />
clinicians presented educational<br />
seminars covering instrument<br />
repair procedures. Sessions on<br />
tooling, instrument modification<br />
and oSHA compliance were also<br />

are selected randomly. This<br />
is the first campaign of many to<br />
come, which will include concert<br />
ticket giveaways, VIP treatments<br />
and other opportunities that<br />
enable customers and fans to become<br />
a part of the Dean Markley<br />
lifestyle.<br />

The annual Business Meeting<br />
was held on April 14, when<br />
elections took place for four seats<br />
on the Board of Directors. Current<br />
officers are Jeff Peterson,<br />
President; Jamie Hamner, Vice<br />
President; Ellen Fillion, Secretary;<br />
Dana Rivard, Treasurer; and<br />
Directors Jason Higgins, Travis<br />
Thacker, leroy Hadding, Allen<br />
langdon and Frans Philippens.<br />
The conference concluded the<br />
evening of April 16 at the Marriott<br />
Hotel and Conference Center<br />
with NAPBIRT’s annual inaugural<br />
and awards banquet.<br />
NAPBIRT’s 37 th annual conference<br />
will be held from April 5 to<br />
8, 2013.<br />
