Letter from the President
Dear Friends,
We the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk joyfully and generously minister
to the people of God in New York, Connecticut and Vermont.
We are proud to say that since 1924 the Ursuline Sisters have
ministered to the needs of God’s people. Since we started in the
first school that we set roots down we became established in the
ministry of education in parish owned and operated schools.
Sr. Mairead M. Barrett
Over the years, we have been blessed to receive feedback that there
is “something” different about being taught by an Ursuline. This “something” was our belief
in and genuine caring for the whole family and ensuring that they had what they needed for
their children to come school. This love flowed out of the Spirit of Jesus and our founder
Angela Merici.
In the past forty years we branched out into other dimensions of ministry as needs arose.
St. Angela Merici told us to pay attention to the signs of the times and embrace the changes
that are needed. Today, we aim to embody Gospel values as we serve those who are vulnerable
in our society. We live our lives focused on our primary relationship with Jesus, from
which our desire to be in service to God’s people flows.
Countless former students write to us, especially to the older sisters. They receive phone calls
and visits. Many visit our website to find the whereabouts of a sister who made an impact on
their lives. We are thankful to God for this connection, this blessing that we are remembered
because we know God’s spirit lives in you as you carry us forward by remembering and saying
“Thanks.” This is one of the greatest gifts one can acquire, to feel and express gratitude.
As our dedicated friends you have helped us become who we were in the past, you are with
us now in the present and through your generosity you help create our future.
“I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” (Ephesians 1:16)
In gratitude,
Sr. Mairead M. Barrett
