Jacob Powell will be called to
the Torah on Saturday, January
14, in honor of his Bar Mitzvah.
Jacob is the son of Barbara and
Jon Powell, and brother of Jeremy
and Sophie. He is the grandson
of Dr. Robert Schnitzler and Laura
Schnitzler of San Antonio, and of
Ron and Georgeanna Powell or Rochmond, IN.
Jacob is a 7th grade honor student in the Gifted and Talented
program at the Krueger School of Applied Technology. Jacob
represents his school in Math UIL competitions and is a
member of the KSAT Science Olympiad team. His interests
include photography, designing cell phone apps, and reading.
It’s Jacob’s love of reading that lead him to his choice of
Mitzvah Project. The Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program
provides age-appropriate books to children who would
otherwise never own their very own book. When Jacob
learned that RIF lost it’s funding and is now struggling to
find books for older kids, he decided to focus his attention on
collecting books for middle-school age children. Members
of the congregation who would like to donate gently used
books to this cause can bring them to the synagogue on
Sunday, January 8th, or send an email to medidite@yahoo.
com to arrange a pickup from your home.
Jules Michael Bouhadana will
and brother of Isabelle Bouhadana.
His grandparents are Solange and
Felix Bouhadana of Miramar, Florida,
Karen Heintz of San Antonio, and the
late Irene and Philip Heintz.
Jules is a 7th grade honor student in the Hobby Middle
School Gifted and Talented program. Jules plays the cello
and enjoys basketball and gaming with his friends during his
free time. For his Bar Mitzvah project, Jules will donate a
portion of his Bar Mitzvah money to The Heintz Preschool.
