Your rights<br />
There are several different laws regulating<br />
your study situation that you may come in<br />
contact with as a <strong>student</strong>. The university has<br />
also set up its own <strong>guide</strong>lines and plans concerning<br />
the study environment. Among other<br />
<strong>guide</strong>lines, there are Student Working Conditions<br />
and a plan for diversity at the university.<br />
Here is an assortment of different regulations<br />
and <strong>guide</strong>lines that a <strong>student</strong> may<br />
come in contact with. For the full list of<br />

Student Working Conditions<br />
In the Guidelines for Student Working<br />
Conditions, sometimes also referred to as<br />
the list of <strong>student</strong> rights, are listed the demands<br />
you can make on your physical and<br />
psychosocial environment, course plans and<br />
schedules, <strong>student</strong> influence and educational<br />
instructions, among other things.<br />
Discrimination Act and<br />
Equal Treatment of Students<br />
At <strong>Uppsala</strong> University no one shall be<br />
discriminated against because of gender,<br />
ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, religion<br />
or other beliefs, age, or transgender<br />
identity and expression. This is regulated<br />
in the Discrimination Act. The university<br />
has also implemented a plan of action for<br />
equal treatment of <strong>student</strong>s, the Equal<br />
Treatment Plan. This plan is based on the<br />
areas of equality, accessibility and diversity.<br />
You and Your StudIeS<br />
Ombudsman for Grading Issues<br />
Any <strong>student</strong> can turn to a betygsombudsman<br />
<strong>–</strong> an ombudsman for grading issues, if they<br />
believe that they have received the wrong<br />
mark or that the examination has been<br />
executed poorly or unfairly.<br />
Diversity<br />
Creating meeting places for <strong>student</strong>s and<br />
staff with different ethnic and religious<br />
backgrounds is a way to increase creativity<br />
in the university environment. This is stated<br />
in <strong>Uppsala</strong> University’s Diversity Plan<br />
which both <strong>student</strong>s and staff are obliged<br />
to follow. In the plan it is stated, among<br />
other things, that the university must enhance<br />
diversity. The plan for widening participation<br />
is a tool to achieve this goal also.<br />
Gender Equality<br />
The study environment at <strong>Uppsala</strong> University<br />
should be welcoming for both men and<br />
women. This is one of the foremost points in<br />
the university’s gender equality work. There<br />
is also a plan of action for gender equality.<br />
Equality Regarding Sexual<br />
Orientation and Sexual Identity<br />
The Equality Plan with regards to sexual<br />
orientation and sexual identity for <strong>Uppsala</strong><br />
University is a lead into making sure the university<br />
is a wellfunctioning work and study<br />
environment for all employees and <strong>student</strong>s,<br />
regardless of sexual orientation or sexual<br />
