Planning Your Stay in uppsala<br />
as a Formal exchange Student<br />
inForMation<br />
Please note that the information in this part<br />
concerns only formal exchange <strong>student</strong>s<br />
(including erasmus, tempus, nordplus, alfa<br />
and linnaeus-Palme <strong>student</strong>s) who are<br />
nominated by their home universities to<br />
study under an official exchange agreement<br />
between uppsala university and a partner<br />
university. If you are an international <strong>student</strong><br />
coming to uppsala university outside of an<br />
exchange programme (such as free mover,<br />
internship, master programmes etc) please<br />
see the general information in the pages<br />
preceding this part.<br />
As a formal exchange <strong>student</strong> you may<br />
study at <strong>Uppsala</strong> University for one or two<br />
semesters only. Your studies here are nonaward<br />
studies, i.e. they do not lead to a degree<br />
at <strong>Uppsala</strong> University.<br />
Admission<br />
For you to become a formal exchange<br />
<strong>student</strong> at <strong>Uppsala</strong> University your home<br />
university must have a valid exchange<br />
agreement with <strong>Uppsala</strong> University. A<br />
list of current <strong>student</strong> exchange partner<br />
universities can be found at the website:<br />
www.uu.se/exchange. Here you can check<br />
if your home university has an exchange<br />
agreement with <strong>Uppsala</strong> University. For further<br />
information about how to apply for an<br />
exchange, please contact the international<br />
coordinator in charge of exchange studies<br />
at your home university. Exchange <strong>student</strong>s<br />
who have sufficient knowledge of Swedish<br />
may be admitted to regular courses taught<br />
in Swedish without formal documentation<br />
of the Swedish language requirement.<br />
How to Apply<br />
Students from universities with an official<br />
exchange agreement with <strong>Uppsala</strong> are welcome<br />
to apply for an exchange at <strong>Uppsala</strong><br />
University. Students must be nominated by<br />
their home university. <strong>Uppsala</strong> University will<br />
not accept applications directly from <strong>student</strong>s<br />
or without endorsement from the home university.<br />

you unsure about anything? Contact your<br />
coordinator at your home university, or one<br />
of the <strong>International</strong> Office staff at<br />
www.inter.uadm.uu.se. Your university will<br />
have its own deadlines for application. <strong>Uppsala</strong><br />
University must have received your<br />
application no later than the 30th of April for<br />
the following autumn semester, or the 15th<br />
of October for the following spring semester.<br />
Finances<br />
The Swedish Migration Board requires that<br />
<strong>student</strong>s are able to support themselves<br />
financially in order to receive a visa or residence<br />
permit or right of residency in Sweden.<br />
