Carrie Lederer, director <strong>of</strong> the Bedford Gallery at dean Lesher<br />

regional center for the <strong>Arts</strong>, Walnut creek. She is a recipient <strong>of</strong> the<br />

eureka Fellowship from the Fleishhacker Foundation.<br />

Frances McCormack, associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> painting at San Francisco<br />

Art institute. She is the recipient <strong>of</strong> the first SFAi Faculty residency at<br />

the American Academy in rome, three Buck Foundation individual artists’<br />

grants, and a djerassi residency.<br />

Ted Purves, assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor, Graduate Program in Fine <strong>Arts</strong> and<br />

interdisciplinary Studies at california college <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Arts</strong>, and the author<br />

<strong>of</strong> What We Want Is Free: Generosity and Exchange in Recent Art (SUnY<br />

Press). He is the recipient <strong>of</strong> grants from the creative capital Foundation<br />

in nYc and a creative Work Fund grant from the elise and Walter Haas<br />

Foundation.<br />

George Rivera, executive director and senior curator at the triton<br />

museum <strong>of</strong> Art, Santa clara, and associate faculty instructor <strong>of</strong> art at<br />

mission college and deAnza college.<br />

Richard Shaw, associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> art at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> california,<br />

<strong>Berkeley</strong>. He is the recipient <strong>of</strong> numerous awards, including grants from<br />

the national endowment for the <strong>Arts</strong>. His work can be found in major<br />

collections, including the Smithsonian’s national museum <strong>of</strong> American Art<br />

in Washington, d.c., and the Whitney museum <strong>of</strong> American Art in new<br />

York, as well as in collections in europe and Japan.<br />

Mark Van Proyen, associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> art history, art and digital<br />

media at San Francisco Art institute, artist, independent curator, and art<br />

critic. He is the author <strong>of</strong> AfterBurn (<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> new mexico Press), a<br />

columnist and critic for ArtWeek, and a contributing editor for Art in America.<br />

Lewis Watts, assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> art, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> california, Santa<br />

cruz, and the author <strong>of</strong> Harlem in the West—The San Francisco Fillmore<br />

Jazz Era (chronicle Books). He is the recipient <strong>of</strong> the distinguished Alumni<br />

Award from Uc <strong>Berkeley</strong> and grants from the Art research institute <strong>of</strong><br />

Uc Santa cruz, Uc institute for research in the <strong>Arts</strong>, and the Gerbode<br />

Foundation.<br />

Dominic Willsdon, the Leanne and George roberts curator <strong>of</strong><br />

education and Public Programs at the San Francisco museum <strong>of</strong> modern<br />

Art, has taught at the San Francisco Art institute and was previously<br />

curator <strong>of</strong> public events at tate modern, London.<br />
