Candidate’s Voice
The Journal presented the candidates with one question to answer:
When elected to City Council, how will you be accountable to the
citizens of Lethbridge? All candidates were contacted; the responses
received by The Journal are included on these pages.
Kay Adeniyi
When elected Alderman, I
will ensure that I connect to
the citizens of Lethbridge,
we are Representatives of
the people and I will make
sure I represent the citizens
of Lethbridge. I will door
knock at least twice a week
in different neighbourhoods
and find out their pressing
issues, I will ride the bus
more often to connect with
the pioneers of the city, and
I am open to the idea of a
town hall meeting on any
issue.

To me accountability
means collecting and sifting
through sufficient
information to make good
decisions on Council and
clearly explaining how the
facts led me to voting on
Council matters. I have
earned the trust of many
people through years of
community service and I
believe my open and honest
approach to City issues will
earn the trust of residents
across Lethbridge. Thank
you for the opportunity to
respond.

I will remain accountable by

so citizens stay informed.

discuss the outcomes.
- by holding regular office
hours and outside meetings.

I think that when an issue
comes up and the council
takes a vote on it; how I
voted should be published
with the reasoning behind
my decision; unless it is in
camera or against FOIP
mandate. I would not
squirm with having to explain
why I voted that way
to anyone personally. I will
vote how the public wants
me to vote. The public will
be able to communicate
with me via email, web site
or phone. I will welcome
suggestions, opinions, and
ideas.

As your Alderman, I
PROMISE to be open,
fair and transparent. I will
always be accessible by
email, Facebook, Twitter
or phone. I plan to have
regular “town hall” style
meetings so that I may
share what Is happening
in council as well as gather
ideas from the citizens
regarding their concerns. I
appreciate your support in
the upcoming election.
