On September 30, students walked into the building
that had become known around campus as Assembly
Hall for their All-School Assembly. At the completion of the
lively assembly, they walked out of the newly named and
dedicated Anderson Hall. The campus’ newest facility was
named in honor of the Anderson family of Morristown,
New Jersey, whose son Jared is a 2006 graduate.
Through the kindness and generosity of the Anderson
family, the Academy was able to purchase the property that
included the former Catholic Church – now Anderson Hall
BrewsterConnections l Fall 2006
– and its rectory from the Diocese of Manchester in 2005.
The former rectory is Brewster’s new, expanded Health
Center.
“I wanted to support Brewster and felt that given their
too-small endowment, this purchase would be too large for
the school to do on its own,” explained Travis K. Anderson,
Jared’s father. “I also felt that it was important for Brewster
to secure this land so that it would be able to use the
land between the church and the Smith Center for future
growth, whether classroom buildings or other facilities,
keeping the campus as contiguous as possible.”
