CONSTRUCTEUR at 122 rue Philippe<br />
Auguste in PARIS circa 1897. Size is<br />
39-1/2" x 59-1/2". Fashionable liberated lady<br />
wearing her bloomers and riding on a<br />
double top tube man's frame. Notice her<br />
great hat and bared arms. Note the<br />
movement of the bike and riders along with<br />
the visual effect obtained with the single<br />
stone block printing. Published by<br />
GALLET. Original Art Nouveau poster<br />
Linen mounted. Left corner and side<br />
restoration. Good overall. RARE image. *<br />
MISTI (pseudonym for Ferdinand Mifliez).<br />
Worked as a designer for Cheret. Exhibitor<br />
at the Salon des Artistes Francais and<br />
received an award from that institution in<br />
1907. Misti was famous for his direct and<br />
bold lines. Largely avoiding over<br />
ornamentation, his bold use of line and<br />
color influenced many artists. He is<br />
favorably compared with other poster artists<br />
of the era such as Toulouse-Lautrec,<br />
Mucha, Grasset, Cheret, Bonnard &<br />
Steinlen. This is a fine example of poster art<br />
illustrating his style.<br />
