April 21, 2007 Bicycle Auction 4/21/2007 LOT # 26 C. 1895 Racycle "Special" tandem C. 1895 Racycle "Special" female - male tandem pneumatic safety, featuring rear steering, original maroon paint with pin striping, rare wooden handle bars, wooden rims, unmatched tires, crank set painted silver, period saddles (including scarce female "The Christy" saddle and very unusual "Jacoby" male saddle). Mfg. by Miami Cycle Co. Middletown Ohio, good original condition. Pat. Dec 23 1895, ex Metz Museum collection. Hammer Price: 100.00 33a 1938 Elgin Bluebird 1938 Elgin Bluebird, this is a last year model. Sears All State original equipment w/w tires, speedo works, light unit in tank is a dummy. Restored, paint by Bob Strucel considered one of the best painters in the hobby! Excellent cond. Hammer Price: Not Sold 34 2 pocket watch inserts Lot (2) bicycle pocket watch covers/inserts: 1 3/4" dia. black metal with stunning bronze framed relief depicting pair of hard tire safety riders in relief, great detail; 1 1/2" dia. depicting hard tire safety rider in uniform at a race track, lots of detail. Hammer Price: 80.00 35 Ingo Bike C. 1934-37 Ingo Bike, Mfg. by Ingersoll Steel & Disc CO. Chicago Ill., Borg Warner product, original oxidized red paint, chrome plating oxidized, wheels painted silver, retains orig. rubber floor board. Invented by Phillip & Prescott Huyssen, this model tried to answer the question of perpetual motion with it's elliptical rear wheel. Ex Metz Museum collection. Fair cond. Hammer Price: 600.00 Copake Auction Inc. LOT # 35a Original 1952 Schwinn Black Phantom Original 1952 Schwinn Black Phantom. All original parts (No Reproduction Parts) including locking spring fork with original key. Original bookrack with tailight. Front wheel has NOS forebrake hub and correct brake handle. Original Schwinn Typhoon whitewall tires are in very good condition. Has nice early "sharp-edge" gooseneck with AS bolts. Original correct saddle in fair condition and correct pedals and grips. Chrome is fair overall. Frame, fork and chainguard have very good original paint. Original tank and headlight cover have been professionally repainted by Bob Strucel. Headlight lens has small crack. Overall a solid original bike. Hammer Price: 1,100.00 36 LAW stein C. 1880's LAW Musterschutz stein having lithophane depicting highwheel riding gent crashing into a lady with a crowd of boys enjoying the action. 7" HT. Excellent condition. Hammer Price: 225.00 37 Search Light lamp 19th C. oil lamp, ornate "Search Light" model Mfg. by the Bridgeport Brass Co. Bridgeport CT, with a very scarce 3" dia. trade card - grand stand pass marked "Y. M. C. U. Rutland VT Wed. July 22d. 1896". This is the same model which achieved $4,400 at auction, the trade card usually sells for $75-100. 5" lamp, very good condition, shows some minor nickel loss, trade card has minor stains but excellent color.
