Money and power attached themselves
To his umbilical chord.
He reigned with ease,
Elegance, cool and generosity
Of the falling rain
On the green jungles
Of the rainforest.
He used his wealth and position
To help his people
And gave honor and respect
To his peers and friends.
Who would have known
That some wicked people
Were jealous of him?
Who could have guessed
That the same friends
He showed his heart to,
Carried daggers of hate
Deep in their belts?
Those with whom
He shared wine
Waited for treacherous chances
With poison seeds
Hidden in their pockets.
Not finding it easy
To kill him so openly,
His detractors devised a plan
