saw the kid goat that escaped the cats returning to the scene of the massacre. It took one<br />

timid step after another, and finally got to the spot where its mother and sibling were<br />

killed. It smelled the grass that had been neatly licked by the cats. Then it slowly left the<br />

spot without making a sound. It wandered around, lifting up its head with anxiety and<br />

fear, its ears darting about to catch the faintest sounds around. It was obviously stressed<br />

and nervous, and did not know what to do next. It was clear to Doudu that the cats were<br />

going to return to the spot that had previously rewarded them, and that the kid would not<br />

be so lucky next time as it wandered around with no forest survival skills.<br />

It was a tiny black goat, with an albino underbelly. It stopped from time to time to<br />

sniff the air, but made no sound. Suddenly it stopped in its tracks and began to come in<br />

Doudu’s direct direction. It got to the entrance of the cave, hesitated for a moment, then<br />

squeezed its petite body through. It slid through the narrow entrance, and got into the<br />

room of the cave where it stood up, motionless. Doudu kept staring at the kid goat. The<br />

goat then took some small steps, and soon was lying down beside Doudu, snuggling up<br />

close to him for warmth and comfort. Doudu felt the trembling muscles of the scared kid<br />

goat against his body. As if with fear, the entire body of the goat trembled for a couple of<br />

hours, gradually calming down as night descended, and Doudu felt he had to move along<br />

on his journey. But first he had to find some food and water.<br />

He crawled out of the cave, but the kid goat crawled out with him and began to<br />

follow him. Doudu was walking fast, and the goat was trotting silently after him, its feet<br />

making no sound as he moved. Doudu also was moving soundlessly, and was happy that<br />

the goat made no sound. Soon they arrived at an isolated farmhouse with signs of life,<br />

and he decided to see what he could steal from the house. The goat stopped just as he<br />

climbed over the wooden fence around the farmhouse. It was easy for Doudu to separate
