If the service is interrupted otherwise than by the negligence or wilful interference )f the subscriber, a pro rata rebate shall be made for the time such interruption continues, rat no other liability shall in any case attach to the Company. 2. The instruments and lines shall be carefully used, and no instrument or appliance not furnished by the Company shall be attached to or used in connection with them. 3. For the purpose of inspecting, repairing or removing the instruments or lines, the Company and its agents may have access thereto at any reasonable time. 4. A local message shall be a personal communication of five minutes or less in duration, from the subscriber's station to another station connected with the Exchange of the Company in same city. The Company reserves the right to discontinue a local connection at ;he end of five minutes. 5. A foreign message shall be a personal communication of such duration as is now or may be established from the subscriber's station to a statien connected with any exchange nutside of the, city in which the subscriber's station is located. 6. Either party may terminate the contract under which telephone service is furnished at or after the expiration of the first year, by not less than thirty days' previous notice in writing to the other party. 7. The Company shall not be liable for any error or omission in the official directory of its subscribers. 8. No profane or obscene language will be tolerated over the lines of the Company and the Company reserves the right to remove the lines and instruments without notice for any violation of this rule. 9. Upon non-payment of any sum due, the abandonment of the station, or any violation of these rules and regulations, the Company may, without notice, terminate the subscriber's rights, sever the connection and remove the instruments without prejudice to its rights to receive any and all sums due from the subscriber.

Please give the name of station as well as the number wanted in a clear and distinct tone, thus — Main-one-four-seven-two-party-R. The operator will repeat number back to you and immediately connect you with the number, or notify you if the line is busy. PARTY LINE NUMBERS. The operator is compelled to ask your number when you call from a party line telephone. In replying it is important that you always designate the accompanying letter, thus — Main-one-four-seven-two-party-R. HOW TO GET YOUR TELEPHONE MOVED. If you wish your telephone moved, please write or telephone the Company. Ten days' notice of intention to move is respectfully requested. IDENTIFICATION OF EMPLOYES. Employes who are authorized to install, examine, exchange, or remove any of the Telephone Company's apparatus, are furnished with a metal badge showing the Company's name and number. Subscribers are earnestly requested to refuse access to their premises to applicants unable to furnish proper identification. All employes of this Company authorized to make collections, are provided with photographic passes bearing the number and the signature of the District Manager of the Company. Please admit no one claiming to be a collector of this Company if he fails to produce his pass upon request. TOLL LINE CONNECTIONS. To the operator's answer to your call, please say " Toll Operator." You will then be given the Toll Operator who will say; "Toll Operator." Please give "Toll Operator " the name of person and place you wish, with your own name and telephone number, and the connection will be given as soon as possible. When a particular person is desired, the name should be given with the call as charge will be made from the time station asked for is connected. For rates and information regarding toll connections call " Information Operator." OFFICIAL LOCAL CALLS FREE. Complaint or other official local calls from an exchange station to any department of this Company may be made without charge. TELEGRAMS BY TELEPHONE. Subscribers will be connected with the local offices of the Telegraph Companies for the purpose of sending despatches, but they must first arrange with the Telegraph Companies, by personal application at the latter's offices, for the reception and transmission of telegrams and payment of the charges. Messages received by the Telegraph Companies, addressed to local subscribers of the Telephone Company, can be transmitted to such subscribers from the telephones placed in the Telegraph Company's offices, without additional charge to the subscribers. If subscribers desire that telegraph messages addressed to them be delivered by telephone, they should make application to the Telegraph Companies for such delivery. The Telephone Company assumes no responsibility for the correct transmission of the messages, and does not collect the telegraph charges. REPEATING MESSAGES. This Company furnishes its facilities for personal communication between parties. All repetition or assistance by the operator is made only upon the distinct understanding that the Company will not be responsible for error, and that the person repeating or assisting does so as the agent of the sender of the message. FIRE AND POLICE CALLS. It is not necessary to give the number for calls to the " Fire Headquarters " or " Police Headquarters." INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE TELEPHONE. Subscribers can facilitate the telephone service by observation of the following suggestions : USE THE TELEPHONE DIBEOTOBY. An attempt to remember a telephone number frequently results in a wrong number connection. Telephone numbers found on letter heads and cards are often erroneous, and should be verified by reference to the current issue of the Telephone Directory. WHEN CALLING a Telephone Number give each figure separately. For example — Main 1472 should be given as Main-one-fourseven-two. iSPEAK DISTINCTLY, in a moderate tone and d/rectly into the transmitter with the lips close to the mouthpiece. WHEN THROUGH TALKING hang up the receiver, large end down. A receiver left off the
