Welcome to Brandon!
After a lot of thought and discussion amongst ourselves it seemed like moving National Trust to another
large hub of Simmental was the right thing to do. This gives more breeders the opportunity to participate
in the breed’s highest profile event. Mission accomplished! And yet,we still have a great representation
from other provinces. This central Canadian location is somewhat more convenient for more to attend.
The National Trust was designed by nature to enhance the value of Canadian Simmental breeding genetics.
The early date, relative to the other fall sales, is purposeful as it wouldn’t make sense to have it following
the bulk of the traditional fall consignment sales. The idea is, National Trust makes the rest of them worth
more. You can’t help but wonder what these cattle would bring if they were sold in December! However,
as mentioned, they make the rest worth more.
This will no doubt be your biggest opportunity of the year, if not for a long time, to rub shoulders with more
breeders from across the country than other time. The Keystone Centre in Brandon is a great facility to
operate in with a connected hotel, lounges, restaurants and the Brandon Wheat Kings!
It appears we are in “boom times” in the cattle business and fortunately for all of us the Simmental breed
was on top when the overall business was apparently distressed. We will stay as economic leaders because
of the breeder core, which is always been known for being the best “people breed”. I think the only
question is, “How good do you want it to be?”. The answer lies in the breeder core again. Use National
Trust to strengthen the other sales, support and maintain existing sales by buying and selling at them.
Resist temptation to create new female sales as there are less people to draw from as consignors, just
make what we have better. Yes, that’s right, you just read a sale manager write that! I hope that only further
validates our dedication to this breed.
Our strength is in unity. Let’s keep it classy, dignified, ethical and thusly profitable.
100% Fleckvieh and Non-Dilutor It has been 10 years since Dad and I first met Glenn Norton
back at his farm in Drayton Valley, AB where we were first introduced to Metro. His consistency
in producing daughters with fleshing ability and excellent udders really appealed to us. Needless
to say several discussions ensued and we had the good fortune of bringing Metro east to
Manitoba. We have a small semen bank stored at Alta Genetics that qualifies for export to the
US and Australia.
CMS RED POLLED ICON 16P
Homozygous Polled. The one that started it all….Icon 16P has been a real game changer for our
red program. His sons have been selling with extreme popularity at our annual bull sale. With over
90 of his sons being used across Canada and the northern US, we feel that is a true testament of
what a breeding bull is supposed to do. One of his most notable sons CMS Tradmark, produced
Manitoba’s high selling bull this past spring at $43,000. Needless to say, the Icon influence shines
through in all of his progeny. The daughters are some of the best milking females we have ever
raised. They are feminine, wide topped, eye appealing momma cows. Icon calves come easy at
birth & then take off and grow. The spring of 2012 was Icon’s last natural breeding season. With
that said, we have decided to share 30 straws of Icon semen here at Trust. If you want to sell bulls
and raise great females, what better opportunity.
WFL COMMANDER 78R
It is with anticipation and excitement that we publicly offer an initial semen package on WFL
Commander at this prestigious sale! We are extremely proud to have such an impact sire walking
our pastures after acquiring him from Twin Chief Simmentals. Those who see him in the flesh
are amazed at his body mass, soundness, and huge foot. Analyze his pedigree – a homozygous
polled Starquest son out of the Licious cow family. Personally we feel his sire Starquest to be one
of the most underutilized red Simmental bulls – every daughter we have purchased over the years
have amazing udders, are easy-fleshing and big-barreled. We don’t need to discuss the merits of
the Licious cow family at Westway’s………they have spoken for themselves over the years. This
may be a bold statement but I dare say that possibly Commander has propelled the cow family
to where it is today! There is plenty of marketability that comes along with this offering. Let your
minds wander to past Cow-A-Rama’s, Lucky Bull Sales, and Checkers Sales where his sons and
daughters have been sale highlights. To date we have kept him somewhat exclusive and will be
offering semen at select sales at our discretion.
We have had the privilege of owning a lot of good herd bulls, but Tradmark exceeded
all our expectations, his consistency is incredible. In our bull sale last spring we had
22 Tradmark sons which was 100% of his bull calf crop with no culls, that averaged
over $10,000. His daughters are the same quality and consistency. They are easy
fleshing females with great udder quality. The Tradmark females will have some
powerful bulls in our bull sale next spring. We have had many inquiries for semen, so
here is your opportunity to use a bull that has a proven track record to produce the
great ones and do it consistently.
100% Fleckvieh. We have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to walk a herdbull of
this magnitude. BamBam possesses phenomenal muscling and anyone who has seen him is
truly amazed at his meat to bone ratio. BamBam has bred more than 70 head in a breeding
season between Ole Farms and JNR Farms and maintains phenomenal condition; he is the
type of animal that is extremely easy keeping. Ole Farms winter grazed him on a half section
of land with 100 other herd bulls with no other feed substitute before he came to work at
JNR this past March. BamBam truly is a moderate framed powerhouse and passes on his
extreme muscling to his offspring. This bull has a huge foot that he carries like a cat and the
disposition to match it. With virtually no handling in his life he is extremely well mannered
and will sneak into the calving barn to get a scratch. BamBam is phenotypically flawless and
structurally correct. We have used BamBam on a variety of cows both horned and polled and
the calves are consistent and carry a lot of his easy keeping traits. This is no surprise with
some of the great matrons in his pedigree like the Knight 55S and Lolita 22Z cow families. Not
to mention the production of his mother owned by Double Bar D in which his maternal sister
is selling in this sale as lot # 33. Buy with confidence. We can not say enough about this bull.
After the very unfortunate loss of Viper during the spring breeding season, it was a difficult decision
to part with semen from this impressive herd bull. He has already had an incredible impact
on our program and we feel he has the potential to leave an everlasting impression on fellow
cattlemens’ herds. Viper was dense made with a massive hip, smooth shoulders, big belly. He
was one of the soundest made, free moving mature bulls you’ll ever come across. His eye appeal
made him very competitive in the show ring, being named Reserve Junior National Champion
and Reserve Senior National Champion. Viper possessed a very balanced set of EPD’s and
DNA tested to be a trait leader in feed efficiency, an increasingly important measurement. His
progeny speak for themselves with his inaugural bull calf crop being extremely well received by
both breeders and commercial producers; averaging $7460. His 2012 offspring already have all
the qualities to make them the strongest sire group we have ever raised. Here is your chance to
be on the forefront of polled Fleckvieh genetics with a bull whose future semen supply is limited.
This will be the only semen to sell in Canada until at least fall 2013.
Polled Full Fleckvieh. I purchased Lauren from Cherry Creek Simmentals at the Keystone
sale in 2009. I was planning to raise a polled herd bull from her. It didn’t work – she gave
me 2 polled heifers. Then Jay Good came on a farm tour and decided to select her and
this year’s calf for the National Trust sale. She has a very quiet temperament. She has
a neat udder and teats that I like to see on a cow this age. A newborn calf can easily get
up and sucking on its own, even out on a range pasture. Big Hills Iron Man is a polled
Fullblood bull that will produce high performing calves.
We are pleased to be part of the National Trust sale this year. This is our first offering in
a purebred sale. We are happy to offer you choice of 2 from this great cow family. Jay
selected this cow family from our show string. 63W is a picture perfect mother cow that
will go to work as the proof is standing next to her. She has a moderate frame with a real
nice and square udder. Her sire, Wheatland 786T, we cannot say enough about him… he
is the backbone of our herd. We have been extremely happy with his daughters and very
few have left our herd. She is bred to the proven Nophalt bull.
Our herd sires are not only selected for performance but we also put great emphasis
on maternal traits. We think this cow family demonstrates that pretty well! We would be
happy to keep each one of these females and could not decide which ones to consign.
Therefore we are letting you choose! Take your picks, and we will be happy to keep the
other! So bid with confidence!!
WCC WELLS’ PLD TALULAH 7T
Talulah stands with many great donors in the PHS program. We feel it is her time to be in
the spotlight so we are offering a flush from her at this year’s National Trust. Talulah was the
highest selling heifer at the Calgary Round Up – selling for $28,000!! She mothered the high
selling female at the 2011 Bar 5 Sale last fall, selling to Starwest Farms in BC for just shy of
$19,000!! Phenotypically powerful – a smooth polled head, and polled ancestors so far back in
her pedigree, they’re off their rockers! Might just as well call her “horned” with a heck of a good
de-horn job. Breed her Polled – Horned – or to a goat (just kidding) it doesn’t matter, it will come
out awesome! Breed her anyway you’d like, or we will provide semen from the PHS bull battery.
Guaranteeing 6 embryos, 50% conception if implanted by a certified embryologist. Buy with
confidence from PHS.
Prospect Hill Simmentals
We would like to thank Transcon for giving us this opportunity to participate in this
prestigious sale. We retained all of our 2011 replacement heifers because of our
herd reduction last fall. These heifers consist of Reds, Blacks, and Polled Fullbloods
( Fleckvieh) , including ET heifers most of these girls are bred to leading AI sires. 14.
You have the choice of selecting any bred heifer with a Twin Brae
tattoo - a pick out of over 65 heifers. We would ask that the choice
be made by December 20, 2012. Please feel free to tour the pasture
Take a look here, another Jeremiah female out to impress. She has the capacity and strength in
show in March). We take great pride to present 450P’s daughter to you at the National Trust. She
is setting up a perfect udder and all the potential to be a front line lady. He mating to Moses is a
some of the best females in our herd and one at Gibbons Farms. We don’t part with her females
the attention she received this spring while guys were looking at bulls we gave it some thought...
and here she is the only female to be sold from our donor cow DLH Miss Pixie, who sold a flush
last year in this sale for $7000 to Mark Land and Cattle Co. Yippee is a polled, full Fleck, cherry
red heifer that we really admire. She is easy fleshing, with lots of quarter and a great future
ahead of her. While our embryo technician was working on Pixie this summer he admired the
perfect feet she still possesses as an 8 year old. This is a trait that we are sure will carry on as
Yippee has excellent feet and strides perfectly. To sweeten the package even more she is safe
in calf to Crossroad Radium for an early Jan calf, which is sure to result in a dark red, stout,
flashy calf. As Jay put it when he came out this summer, “All the homework is done here.” We
would like to retain a flush at our expense and the buyer’s convenience.
TYMARC CLASSY COUNTRY 4K
TYS 11Y is sired by the proven Virginia Ranch bull, Virginias Red Texas who has done a great
job in several herds of the Texas syndicate. We think she is a fancy heifer with great color
and correctness where it counts for soundness and longevity. Tymarc Red Becka will follow in
her mother’s great footprints in your herd. This heifer is bred TNT Gunner with no exposure.
TYMARC RED BECKA 11Y
In keeping with the National Trust format we are offering our absolute top end of both open
and bred female pens.
These maternal sisters are both very strong
individuals. Their dam, Tymarc Red Becky 4P,
is a solid red, deep bodied, Long Cut daughter
with very correct feet and legs and a near perfect
udder. She is a very heavy milker and has
a super disposition. Every breeder would like
more females like her in their herd and these
2 offspring should rise to that status. We are
confident that either heifer will work in any program,
whether you prefer the Fleck influence of
11Y, or the depth of red/black breeding in 210Z.
These 2 represent our belief in the importance
of the female side of any breeding program. If
you are looking to add depth to your pedigrees
have a look at these girls.
20.
TYMARC REBECCA 210Z
TYS 210Z represents the top end of progeny from our new herd sire TNT Accelerator.
Already he has made a dramatic influence on our herd’s production with his first calf crop.
Tymarc Rebecca is a solid built heifer with the best attributes of her parentage already
beginning to show.
WLB Red 462P 375T - service sire
This”Sister Act” is one to watch. Both homozygous polled by pedigree, they are outstanding
females with some of the best genetics available today. We could write a book on their
dam 202S, who has done so much for us, and our herd, since we won her as the pick of
the barn at Agribition 2008. Her sons have sold well for us at our annual bull sale, but her
daughters have been the stars! One selling to Harvie Ranching at Agribition for $10,500
and Outlaw Cattle Co purchased 1/2 interest in another for $15,000. This unique opportunity
presents itself only at a prestigious sale such as National Trust and only because we
have put in another batch of 202S embryos. Lady Jane 106Y is simply a beauty! She has
such a perfect profile from her feminine front to her strong hip structure - she
puts all of the pieces in place. We did AI her to the $82,000 Horizon bull but
believe she is safe to our herdsire WLB 375T, whose own sire is a full brother
to the legendary Wheatland Teddy. 375T is a solid herdsire we have come
to depend on for the consistency in his impressive calf crops. Lady Godiva
211Z is, in our mind, the heifer who resembles her dam the most - beautiful
front end, big huge hip with as much rib capacity as is possible in a female!
If you are a believer in EPD’s, have a look at 211Z’s - a +40.6 WW, +78.2
YW, +8.0 MCE and a +10.4 for milk. Unless you have been in a coma this
past year, you all know how the Crosby calves set the pace and were one of
the strongest sire groups to sell! The choice is yours - the opportunities are
endless -which Lady will you take home tonight?
Trust in Brandon. This heifer’s pedigree is stamped from the top pedigrees both dam and sire.
Exhibiting Bar 5’s top sire Bar 5 MVP and their famous 604Y cow; plus our leading sires: Red
Dog 7J, Big Red, and our outstanding young herdbull, Octane. I know I’m not going to be the
only breeder to ever say “I’m not sure how I agreed to sell this heifer” but Darren has picked
my top bred and I am very proud to be selling her “down the road” from where her roots were
begun at the great Bar 5. So all you breeders looking for that outcross, classy powerhouse
look here. She is bred early to our exciting new red herdbull Tymarc Red T-Bone 34Y. Gold
is everything I have striven to create and she will make the new owner just as proud! Gold
does sell unconditionally but we at YR would be happy to help manage this heifer in any way.
Here’s a power heifer, a black beauty that was our highest indexing heifer last year weaning at
112R. The 45U cow has our highest indexing heifer again out of Black Powder this year.
Check them out in our open heifer pasture tours part two on our website. The 112R cow,
150Y’s grandmother had our top black bull and high seller to Triple T Diamond Simmentals
from Lundar, MB for $8750. This Tracker daughter will be a front pasture female and the last
Tracker female of this quality to ever sell. She is bred to our easy calving Black Powder bull
to start out her career. If you are looking for a transplant female, or you have a bull you want
to promote, breed him to this heifer, sit back and watch the money roll in.

Full Fleckvieh. In 1992, MFL Universe 28U was lot 1 at the Demby Simmental Ranch Final
Round- Up Dispersal Sale in Regina. To quote some of their footnote from that catalogue, “In
the opinion of an astute cattleman, 28U is possibly the most consistent breeding herdsire of both
male and female progeny in the Simmental industry today. His females have a similar pattern,
moderate in frame, neat & tidy udders, good heads, adequate volume, are angular, very fertile
and calve easy.” There were over 200 head of cows dispersed that day, and 90 of them were
direct daughters of Universe!! We attended that sale and purchased 3 Universe daughters…that
was the day I personally became a huge fan of Universe 28U.
DFM Juni 960J does it again…Her five natural calves averaged us $15,250 each. Juni sold to
Vaughn Gibbons in the 2009 National Trust Chapter II sale. Virginia Juni 960Y is, in my mind,
right up there with the top heifers we have been fortunate enough to produce and sell over the
years. I believe when you see her, you too will also become a huge fan of Universe!! Knowing
you will definitely want to flush this heifer, we are sweetening the pot…she will sell with 2 straws
of Champ Romano semen.

100% Fleckvieh. Opportunities of extremely
rare foundation genetics don’t
come around very often. When the opportunity
arose to purchase some of the
last embryos that would be full sibs to
the MFI Shamu cow we were extremely
fortunate. The single pregnancy we got
was well worth the wait. JNR Shamu has
been a standout from birth. This heifer is
built the way a female should be with heavy bone, extremely wide topped, chest floor capacity
that carries into the middle with tons of volume while maintaining femininity and a docile disposition.
With having a low percentage of heifer calves in 2012 it has made it extremely difficult to
part with any heifers and sell females publicly this year, but we wanted to somehow share this
opportune female by offering a ½ interest in JNR Shamu through this elite sale. The future of
this female should be extremely rewarding just as the production history of MFI Shamu, her full
sister. Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity.
Due to prior vacation plans, we can’t physically drive to Brandon and back in time, so Shamu
won’t be at the sale. Videos and pictures will be available before and at the sale. If you would
like to see her, give us a call and stop in at the farm.
Maternal sister sold to
Perkins Land & Cattle
This Walker heifer calf is the super star of our entire 2012 heifer crop. A heifer that exemplifies
what our program is all about. She’s thick, broody, and structurally correct, yet fancy with style
to burn. We sold a half sister out of 16S to Perkins Land and Cattle Co. in our 6th annual bull
and female sale as a choice lot, and they immediately put her in their transplant program. We
have a half sister out of Upstart that is an absolute standout in our bred heifer pasture. It is gut
wrenching to let a heifer of this caliber sell, but we’ve decided to put 16S in transplant next spring
and our hope is that we can duplicate this heifer many times over since she has produced our top
red heifer three years in a row. Here’s your chance to buy a front pasture female in the making.
85Z is the best we have to offer, and most likely the best we ever raised.
BLI FIRST CLASS 202Z
We are once again honored to be part of the National Trust sale. We have been part of this sale
since day one and we are excited about the change in venue for 2012. This year we opened
up the heifer pen for Glenn when he was out selecting. First Class 202Z was his top pick and
has been a favorite of visitors all summer long. First Class is a standout; she is deep sided,
long bodied, and big topped. Sired by 20X, the homo polled Redge son purchased with CRM
Simmentals as one of the high sellers out of the R Plus sale in 2011. 20X’s first set of calves
have not disappointed in either program. 202Z’s dam is a fault free female that also raised our
lead off bull this past spring selling to the good herd of Athabasca Colony. 202Z was part of our
show team this summer and was very successful in the show ring as well. I could write a novel
on how good I think this heifer is but analyze the picture or better yet check her out in Brandon
and I am sure you will agree. First Class is flat good and would be a great addition to any herd.
The first calf crop from R Plus Hard Rock has lived up to anticipation. The bulls look tremendous and the heifers are absolute standouts. The Mader Blackgold cow has been a consistent
sale topping producer and we knew that she would be the perfect combination for Hard Rock. We have 5 full sib heifers from this flush and they are hard to pick a hole in – stylish,
structurally sound, full ribbed and clean fronted. These heifers are not identical but both offer their own unique desirable traits. Blooming Violet is super fancy and feminine while Vibrant
Peony is really long and soggy and absolutely full of meat. You may find other heifers that have had more management, but you won’t find ones more complete than these two.
The most balanced and correct black calf I have ever raised. She is very sweet fronted, big
topped and big boned. Her dam is a brood, big footed cow who has been a solid producer
here. 18Z is going to have a beautiful udder and will turn into an excellent cow as all these
McSteamy heifers are turning into hard milking, excellent mothers. I am only parting with
a couple of these McSteamys so don’t miss out on an opportunity to own one. This girl
has maternal sisters working at Mader Ranches and Workman Brothers and have worked
very well for both operations.
MFR MISS SIZZLE 45Z
MFR Miss Sizzle 45Z is really a female that should not be leaving the farm but elite sales
call for elite individuals and Sizzle is just that. From her killer looks, huge whale belly and
homo-polled outcross pedigree, we feel the potential of Sizzle is endless. Jay couldn’t help
but find her in the pasture beside her outstanding High Voltage dam; who has been a real
producer here at MFR. Eye of the Storm is a home raised black baldy bull who I wish we had
never sold but had the pleasure to use naturally in our breeding program. Truly one of the
most unique heifers to sell this fall
dam is a past graduate of the Trust sale and has done an excellent job in her first two years
of production. 219Z is a soft made, big ribbed, awesome colored, super hairy female. We
feel 219Z has a tremendous future ahead of her and has mother cow written all over her.
This is our second set of calves sired by 11W and we have been very impressed with the
consistency and quality that he sires. The 11W progeny continue to get better with age and
we can’t wait to calve his first daughters next spring. Bulls sired by 11W were well received
this past spring in our sale and sold into some of the top commercial herds in the area. 219Z
We are very excited to offer this heifer for sale in the 2012 version of the National Trust Sale.
We selected her from a group of full sibs we have at the farm this year. Her flush dam is a
cow that consistently produces top end females for our herd and we have been reluctant
to part with very many. Noir Tease has a loaded pedigree - the old Red Doll 21F cow from
Westway Farms bred Power Drive and to top that off bred to the master himself Wheatland
Bull 680S. We think this breeding will turn out to do great things. Noir Tease has that extra
bit of eye appeal and electric hair we expect from 680S. Don’t pass up an opportunity to add
a proven pedigree to your herd.
Perkin Land & Cattle Co.

Choose from approximately 100 red heifers and 50 black sired by our four exclusive herdsires. IPU Accelerator 92U - “ The Cow Maker” an own
son of IPU Red Pocahontas 105L. Twin Chief Turbo - our go to sire for muscle and capacity, co owned with Yellow Rose Cattle Co. MRL Walk The
Line 164W - high selling Black Bear son, 2010. There are 6 flush cow matrons in his immediate pedigree. His daughters are fantastic with tremendous
temperaments. MRL Seismic 90Y - high selling red Power Surge son out of the tremendous Bodybuilder x Red Deck daughter MRL 863S.
Our family has lived in the scenic Cypress Hills of southwest Sask. since 1908 raising cattle as our only source of income. We had our first Simmental
calves born in 1971 and we have since developed a cow herd we are very proud of. Although we only sell a few females each year many
have gone on to become top end producing front pasture cows for their new owners. Come and join us next summer at the ranch where you will
be treated to great hospitality and the opportunity to pick from our very best. Selection is to be made by Sept 1, 2013.
