The oklad 1888, Kostroma, with maker’s mark ’’SZYa’’ and assayer ’’AF’’, depicting the<br />
Virgin(?), 8.75’’ W x 7’’ D, est:$1000/1500<br />
Provenance: Property from a San Marino Estate. Condition: Unable to remove oklad<br />
from icon with out damaging silver. Oklad heavily tarnished. With some tears at<br />
sides, some around affixing nails. Some bending to silver, particularly to halo. With<br />
a few diamond lace elements missing from halo. Some loss of paint to icon evident<br />
in open areas of silver. With a faded green velvet cover to back of icon. Some dirt<br />
accumulation overall. AS-IS. ALL SALES FINAL<br />

Provenance: Property from an Estate, Studio City, CA. Visual: Shallow, horizontal<br />
cracks throughout the sky. Surface dirt and grime. Minor frame abrasion along the<br />
edges. Blacklight: Apparently no evidence of touch-up under blacklight. The varnish<br />
fluoresces unevenly, concentrated mainly along the lower edge, under blacklight.<br />

Provenance: Property from an Estate, Restoration Point, Bainbridge Island, Seattle,<br />
WA, since 1919. Visual: Generally good condition. Possible overpaint, possibly<br />
caused by repatinating the frame, along the lower edge, concentrated mainly on<br />
the left side. Blacklight: No evidence of touch-up under blacklight. Scattered white<br />
pigments fluoresce under blacklight but these appear to be in the hand of the artist.<br />
