B. Behavior at School<br />
Psychosocial Outcomes. One study found that children in pre-disrupted<br />
families (whose parents’ relati<strong>on</strong>ship would later dissolve) exhibit more academic,<br />
psychological, behavioral, and drug-related problems than children whose families<br />
remained intact. 206 Daniel Potter, referenced above, also found that the<br />
deleterious effect <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> divorce <strong>on</strong> children’s psychosocial well-being is an important<br />
factor in poor math and reading scores. 207<br />
Absence. One study found that children whose parents divorced skipped nearly<br />
60 percent more class periods than children from intact families. Girls appeared<br />
to be more affected than boys. 208<br />
Dropout, Suspensi<strong>on</strong>, or Expulsi<strong>on</strong>. <strong>Children</strong> who experienced their parents’<br />

remarriage did not alleviate the effects <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> divorce <strong>on</strong> children’s educati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

C. Less College Attainment for <strong>Children</strong><br />
<strong>Children</strong> whose parents 211 or grandparents 212 divorce tend to have fewer years <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
educati<strong>on</strong>. <str<strong>on</strong>g>Divorce</str<strong>on</strong>g> and separati<strong>on</strong> reduces children’s likelihood <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> attending<br />
college. 213 Furthermore, 33 percent <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> students who have already completed<br />
sec<strong>on</strong>dary school but who have experienced their parents’ divorce graduate from<br />
