What is Mystagogy….
In the fifty days of the Easter
season that follow the celebration
of Our Lord’s resurrection, our
recently confirmed adults begin a
journey of mystagogy. It is a time
to continue the interpretation of
the mystery of their faith and
relationship with Christ. But, this
period is not only for them…it is
for all of us as well!
For all Christian believers, mystagogy means a
continued discernment of the Spirit. It could take place
during communal and personal prayer, theological
reflection, spiritual direction, or retreat. Mystagogy
assists all of us to encounter the risen Christ in the
liturgy, the Scriptures, the Church and in our everyday
lives.
Mystagogy is a process of conscious communal
teaching and reflection that takes place within the
Church, which is itself a place for forgiveness and
healing.
As we all continue on our life long journey of
mystagogy here some questions for each of us to
ponder…
How do I experience the Resurrection of Jesus
Christ in my own life?
How can mystagogy bring to life the mystery of
Christ in the Church for me?
How has the Spirit lead you and challenged you
to a deeper faith and life of devotion?
Peace,
Talents with the Parish in a Special Way!
"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and
began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit
enabled them to proclaim." (Acts 2:4)
Every week, we collectively offer our petitions in our
Prayer of the Faithful. On Pentecost weekend (May 10th
and 11th), we'd like to proclaim our petitions in "different
tongues" and we need the help of our multilingual
parishioners!
If you speak a foreign language and are willing to
proclaim one of the petitions on Pentecost weekend,
contact Peg Rivera in the Liturgy Office by Thursday,
May 1st (630-483-4673 x107; ccchoir@sbcglobal.net).
We're looking for 3-5 volunteers for each of our four
weekend Masses (5:00 p.m. Vigil, 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and
11:00 a.m.). Listen to the Spirit, and help our parish
family experience God's word in a special way this
Pentecost!
