Giovanni Acciai (Italy) • Regular teacher of History of<br />
music, Musical semiography and Performance practice of the<br />
Academy of music «Giuseppe Verdi» of Milan and University<br />
of Potenza. He is graduated in Organ, in Composition and in<br />
Conducting technique at the Academy of music «Giuseppe<br />
Verdi» of Milan; he specialized in Musical paleography<br />
and philololgy at the University of Pavia. Director of the<br />
magazine «L’Offerta musicale», he has published numerous revisions of ancient<br />
music, musicological studies, translations, critical editions. Already conductor<br />
of the «Corale Universitaria di Torino» (from 1975 to 1983) and of the «Coro<br />
del Teatro comunale di Bologna», 1981-1982), at the moment he is artistic and<br />
musical conductor of the «Solisti del madrigale» and of the Collegium vocale et<br />
instrumentale «Nova Ars Cantandi», at the guide of which he attended to an intense<br />
concertistic and discographic activity. Since september 1989 and until the broke<br />
of the ensamble (1995) he has been conductor of the Chamber choir of the RAI of<br />
Rome. He is artistic director of the International choral competition of Riva del<br />
Garda (Trento), and National choral competition of Quartiano (Italy). He is regularly<br />
invited as president and member of jury of the most important international choral<br />
competitions and to give relations at musicological meetings and stages of choral<br />
conducting and of performance practice at national and foreign associations.<br />
In attended to the recording of the Vespri per la festa di Ognissanti by Giovanni<br />
Giacomo Arrigoni and the unabridged editions of Lamentazioni e i Responsori per<br />
la Settimana santa, op. XXII e XXIII by Lodovico Viadana, Missae «Beata es virgo<br />
Maria» and «Illuminare Jerusalem» by Giovanni Contino and Concerti ecclesiastici<br />
by Giacomo Moro da Viadana for the discographic companies «Concerto» and<br />
«Stradivarius» respectively; with the Ensemble «Micrologus» he has recorded a CD<br />
entitled Europa concordia musicae, with polyphonic music of XV and XVI centuries,<br />
ordered by the Cabinet and the RAI (Italian radio and television broadcasting<br />
corporation) on the occasion of the Italian six-months period of presidency of the<br />
European Union. For the discographic company «Nuova Era» he has been attended<br />
the recording of the Quarto and Sesto libro de’ madrigali a cinque voci by Claudio<br />
Monteverdi, performed by the «Solisti del madrigale» and for the SARX of Milan,<br />
the unabridged edition of the Motecta festorum totius anni (1563) by Giovanni<br />
Pierluigi da Palestrina, performed by the Collegium vocale «Nova Ars Cantandi».<br />
For the discographic company «Tactus» he has been attended the recording of the<br />
Vespri della Beata Vergine of Isabella Leonarda performed by the Collegium vocale<br />
«Nova Ars Cantandi».<br />
