For walkers with an interest in the port hardly any Hamburg
terminal is easier to see than HHLA Container Terminal
Tollerort (CTT). Mega-containerships regularly make fast
directly opposite the architectural‚ String of Pearls‘ on
the northern banks of the Elbe. Straddle carriers scurry
across Tollerort stacking the containers three-high. The
latest generation of container gantry cranes handle
super-freighters with slots for 13,000 standard containers.
Despite the large scale, value is placed on fl exibility and
personal customer contact. The course for the future has
been clear for a long time: The highly optimized terminal
layout and the new container rail terminal already give
CTT a new look today. With state-of-the-art rail cranes
handling block trains, capacity for rail handling has
increased fi vefold.
