Semi finished product + Lathe machine = <strong>Seal</strong><br />

The <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> complete <strong>CNC</strong> machine systems are perfectly adjusted systems for the rapid production<br />

of high quality seals. <strong>Seal</strong>s for hydraulic and pneumatic application, as well as various plastic<br />

parts are available within a few minutes. Especially for the repair market (MRO) the lathe cut seal<br />

technology offers many advantages compared to the mass produced, stored standard seals.<br />

With the <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> complete systems the availability of practically every seal is guaranteed within<br />

the shortest time span. So, the big warehouse with stored standard seals with various dimensions<br />

and materials can get reduced to a reasonable size.<br />

The user of <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> machine systems can satisfy individual requirements of his customers. Besides<br />

the normal standard versions also special dimensions and individually changed or designed<br />

profiles can get manufactured and delivered out of any material.<br />

on the customer‘s requirements.


<strong>SML</strong> System Software<br />

The software is the core of every machine system for the production of lathe cut seals. This software<br />

puts the owners of a <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> machine system in a most favorable position, compared to their<br />

competitors.<br />

The <strong>SML</strong> software was fully developed by <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> Produktions- u. Vertriebs GmbH. The data<br />

base as well as the program architecture are subject to continuous improvement, and this progress<br />

is put at disposal to our customers free of charge in form of downloads from our homepage. Our<br />

highly skilled R&D team is always keen on realizing customers requirements, and in integrating these<br />

in the future software updates.<br />

Besides the nearly 150 standardized profiles which can be produced within a few minutes just by the<br />

entry of nominal dimensions and the selection of the appropriate material, each profile can also get<br />

individually modified by the software user. With this feature a seal specialist can modify the profile<br />

design, without being knowledgeable in <strong>CNC</strong> programming. A specially developed parser generates<br />

simultaneously the <strong>CNC</strong> program, which can be transmitted to the numeric control unit of the<br />

manufacturing machine at any time. The display shows the cross section in scale, which simplifies<br />

the review of the modifications carried out. The software also recommends the best suitable cutting<br />

tools for machining the designed seal, and in case the individual profile modification requires tools<br />

different from the standard tooling equipment, then the software reports this automatically.<br />

Besides these mentioned features there are many support appliances integrated, such as tool data<br />

sheets, tolerance sheets, profile descriptions, material data base, statistic reporting, export functions,<br />

E-mail interface, etc).<br />

The clearly arranged grouping of the profiles in wipers, rod seals, piston seals, symmetrical seals,<br />

support rings, guide rings, rotary seals, static seals & O-rings, mining seals and special profiles,<br />

facilitate the fast access to the required seal.<br />

On request customized profiles can get developed and integrated into the software.<br />

<strong>SML</strong> Series 170-700plus<br />

The <strong>SML</strong> series 170 – 700plus offers the manufacturer of lathe cut seals a wide selection of machines<br />

with different manufacturing diameters and different possibilities of machining.<br />

The basic lathe machines we use were originally designed for metal machining. Without changing<br />

the sturdy basic design these lathes get modified in order to become a perfect machine tool for the<br />

machining of plastic materials. Besides a long life expectancy a high value retention may be expected.<br />

Unlike other providers, <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> relies on the strategy “Buy, improve and assemble!” This means<br />

that we assemble a high number of world wide approved components with the target to make a<br />

machine system for seal production with the highest efficiency in the market. In case one of these<br />

components shows failures despite their accurate selection, such a component gets modified, tested<br />

and finally gets released for production and sale. This accuracy in machine assembling ends in big<br />

advantages for our customers, both pertaining to technique and to financing.<br />

As soon as a customer has decided on a <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> machine system we start the operations<br />

scheduling for a smooth assembling procedure. Last details get clarified, an information leaflet for<br />

installation and transport in the customer‘s workshop get mailed. As soon as the machine is ready,<br />

we train the customer‘s machine operators in our training center, and the machine undergoes the acceptance<br />

test. With this we want to make sure that our customers are well prepared for the handling<br />

of the machine, and that they gain confidence in the well functioning system they are going to set up<br />

in their company. After dispatch and arrival in the customer‘s workshop the machine gets started up<br />

by one of our multi-lingual technicians and is finally handed over to the customer.

Cutting tools & Accessories<br />

The machining of rubber, Polyurethane and plastic materials sets high standards for the quality of<br />

the cutting tools. The wide variety of different seal geometries, too, does not really allow the use of<br />

standard cutting tools. Therefore most of the cutting tools used in our machine system are special<br />

tools, both pertaining to geometry and material. The Know How of the <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> technicians, in<br />

conjunction with selected suppliers, form the background for the outstanding quality of our cutting<br />

tools. Each delivered machine system comes with a full set of cutting tools, and with the <strong>SML</strong> system<br />

software. The <strong>SML</strong> 700plus gets delivered with additional milling heads and holders for the manufacture<br />

of complicated engineered plastic parts.<br />

Concerning the tool holders <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> relies on international standards. These allow a fast and<br />

exact change of the cutting tools. These accessories come in a tooling trolley, where they are well<br />

protected and clearly arranged. An exact documentation of the cutting tools is included.<br />

<strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong> also offers a range of special cutting tools which enable the customer to also produce<br />

complicated seal profiles.<br />

The Accu Finish tool grinder gives an important contribution to the quality level of the end product.<br />

As its name says (Accurate Finishing) it allows the perfect sharpening of cutting tools and is easy to<br />

operate. The Accu Finish is actually the very best grinder available in the market in order to assure a<br />

long lasting accuracy of the cutting edge, and it allows to sharpen the cutting tools many times.<br />

When developing the machine system, an efficient and exact clamping system was of highest priority.<br />

Every machine system comes with a complete set of clamping jaws, in line with the diameter<br />

range of the machine model. These jaws were designed and are manufactured by <strong>Seal</strong> <strong>Maker</strong>. Their<br />

design allows for a short tooling time in comparison to competitive clamping systems, and they are<br />

easy to handle.<br />

In addition every <strong>SML</strong> machine system comes with a full set of hand tools, checking and adjusting<br />

devices, various spares, and with an exact documentation of machine and numeric control unit in<br />

form of an operation manual.
