The grey area marks the period <strong>in</strong> which <strong>cultivation</strong> of a sawah takes place<br />
Seren Taun: Ceremony for all members of the Kasepuhan, which takes place <strong>in</strong> the<br />
village of Ciptagelar. The goal of the ceremony is to thank the spirits,<br />
gods and goddesses for the harvest and to pray for another<br />
successful year.<br />
Syukuran: Ceremony that takes place three times a year for all members of the<br />
Kasepuhan and five times on village level. The aim is to pray for the<br />
protection of crops, to get the bless<strong>in</strong>gs of <strong>rice</strong> goddess Dewi Sri and<br />
for a successful cooperation dur<strong>in</strong>g the work on the field.<br />
Tebar: Small and private ceremony before sow<strong>in</strong>g the sawah. With this<br />
ceremony, the Kasepuhan express their holistic view of the universe<br />
and pay respect to <strong>rice</strong> goddess Dewi Sri.<br />
