The case organization A-Suppliers developed step-by-step an entire department as standard-<br />

use mediators and as reaction to the increasing amount of process standards they are<br />

confronted with (as mentioned in the interviews: CMMI, A-SPICE, ISO26262 and<br />

ISO16949). The advent of standards like CMMI or A-Spice around the Millennium increased<br />

complexity in the standard landscape for A-Suppliers over the years. First, they gathered<br />

positive experiences with a project handling the CMMI process needs. After this sub-step,<br />

they upgraded to a department structure which then handled not only CMMI but all the<br />

existing process standards. The 'standard' environment of A-Suppliers nowadays is considered<br />

as very complex.<br />

The so-called ‘standard bible’ is the result of a translation process of several external and<br />

internal standards into a single internal one (cf. Figure 2: B and C as input for A). These three<br />
