Korean Apple promotion events twice -
crispy and sweet taste of Korean apples.
The total export amount of Korean
apples to the United States reached 54
tons after the Chungcheongbuk-do
the second position and was followed by seasoned seaweeds,
including “Yangban Gim,” from third to fifth. The recently
released Shin Ramyeon Black, the Crown Butter
Waffles, and Harim Samgyetang have also recorded big
sales volumes.
Compared to last year, the sales of snacks and instant
noodles have increased while those of jeotgal and kimchi
have declined somewhat.
The spokesperson for Lotte Mart said that “exports to
Japan have improved awareness of the Orion Market O
the price of them in Korea is 20 percent lower than
Korean Apples Sell in USA Market Kimchi Picked as
“Must-Eat Food”
The American online journal “Huffington
Post” selected Korean kimchi as one of
the top five “must-eat foods,” along with
rosemary, elderberry, kiwifruit, and curcumin.
On May 6, the journal published
an article entitled “Foods You Probably
Aren’t Eating - But Should.” It explained
that “kimchi’s superstar bacteria,
Lactobacillus, has been found to help reduce
gas, indigestion and bloating - it
may even reduce the number of yeast infections
and aid in weight loss.”
Exporting Cabbage to
Hong Kong and Singapore
To introduce Korean spring cabbages,
the aT organized promotion events in the
stores of big distribution companies -
JUSCO in Hong Kong on May 21 and
22, and NTUC in Singapore in late May.
A spokesperson of the aT said that “the
price of spring cabbages was expected
The Ministry for Food, Agriculture,
Forestry and Fisheries (MIFAFF) held a
proclamation ceremony for “King Nupchi
Halibut” - a new breed of halibut developed
by the National Fisheries Research
and Development Institute (NFRDI).
The new breed grows 30 percent faster
than other breeds and has a strong immunity
against germs, viruses, and parasites.
For that, it was named “King” and
the Korean word for halibut - nupchi -
to go down because of overproduction,
so we tried to resolve the export problem
and held Korean spring cabbage promotion
events.
We introduced the consumers to the excellence
in quality and safety of the
Korean spring cabbage.”
Fast-Growing King
Nupchi Halibut
was included in the name in order to introduce
the Korean variety of the fish to
its main target, the global market.
Paprika
Peppers Are
Exported to
Canada
Korean paprika, a product that
greatly contributes to the country’s
exports, was exported to
Canada for the first time.
According to the aT, Korean paprika
was shipped to Canada on
May 16. This represents the efforts
to diversify export markets,
which are now leaning too heavily
on the Japanese market.
The latter takes 90 percent of
the entire Korean paprika export.
The aT has been working on expanding
the exports to Canada,
Australia, Taiwan, and other
countries.
Following the first export deal,
the aT held promotion events in
Canada, and plans to organize
several more large-scale events
in Australia and Taiwan to inform
local people about the advantages
of Korean paprika.
