Two years later, on the very day of the AGM in Venice,<br />

Dick Frey died. At the next AGM, in Turku, Jean Besse<br />

became Chairman, and his successor, as Executive Vice-<br />

President was Tommy Sandsmark.<br />

In 1990, in Geneva, Berl Stallard retired as Treasurer,<br />

and was succeeded by Evelyn Senn-Gorter.<br />

Early in 1991 René Ducheyne suffered from ill health,<br />

and the three senior posts were rotated: Tommy Sandsmark<br />

becoming President, Alan Truscott Executive Vice-<br />

President and Ducheyne became First Vice-President. Lee<br />

Hazen died early in 1991. At the AGM in Killarney, Bill<br />

Pencharz became General Counsel, and Lars Blakset the<br />

<strong>Association</strong>'s first Honorary Auditor.<br />

Just after Killarney closed came news of the death of<br />

René Ducheyne. At the following AGM in Salsomaggiore<br />

Per Jannersten, the son of the founding Secretary, became<br />

the Executive Vice-President, and Alan Truscott moved<br />

back to being the First Vice-President. Eloene Griggs<br />

retired as Secretary and became an Honor Member. Stuart<br />

Staveley was elected Secretary with the understanding that<br />

Evelyn Senn would carry out those duties not connected<br />

with Membership.<br />

In September 1994 our Chairman Jean Besse died and<br />

this caused a rotation of the senior posts. The Constitution<br />

had been amended to create the post of Organisational<br />

Vice-President instead of First Vice-President. Alan Truscott<br />

became Chairman and Per Jannersten Organisational<br />

Vice-President. In Beijing in 1995 Barry Rigal (USA) was<br />

appointed Awards Chairman. At the 1996 AGM in Rhodes<br />

Tommy Sandsmark retired as President and Henry Francis<br />

(USA) was elected. The new Executive Vice-President was<br />

Jean-Paul Meyer (France).<br />

The Constitution was amended in 1997 to create the<br />

post of President Emeritus open to living Past Presidents.<br />

At the 1998 AGM in Lille Alan Truscott and Tommy<br />

Sandsmark were elected to the new honorary post. Christer<br />

Andersson became Treasurer, and Evelyn Senn, who<br />

had been fulfilling both the roles of Treasurer and Secretary,<br />

was formally named as Secretary.<br />

The IBPA decided to have its own website which became<br />

operational the following year.<br />

At Maastricht, in the year 2000, Evelyn Senn-Gorter retired<br />

from the Executive and Maureen Dennison became<br />

Secretary.<br />

In 2001 David Rex-Taylor, who had served as Executive<br />

Editor of the Bulletin, being responsible for printing and<br />

distribution from 1982, retired, and Anna Gudge filled the<br />

vacancy. The job was renamed Production Editor.<br />

In 2002 Patrick Jourdain retired after 20 years as Bulletin<br />

Editor. John Carruthers succeeded him.<br />

In 2003 Patrick was elected President when Henry<br />

Frances became Chairman. At the same time Per Jannersten<br />

and Jan van Cleeff swapped jobs; Jan van Cleeff<br />

stepping up as Executive Vice-President. Anna Gudge<br />

retired as Production Editor and was replaced by Jean<br />

Tyson (now Butler), who got the title Bulletin Production<br />

Manager.<br />

After a year of re-elections we had a major change of<br />

guards in Estoril 2005. Henry Frances retired as chairman<br />

and Per Jannersten took his place. Dilip Gidwani filled the<br />

slot as Organizational Vice President that Per left. Mario<br />

Dix replaced both Christer Andersson (Treasurer) and<br />

Stuart Staveley (Membership Secretary). Stuart had served<br />

the organization in twenty years and well deserved being<br />

named Honorary member. The officers have remained the<br />

same since Estoril.<br />

It should also be mentioned that the Auditor has been<br />

Julius Butkow, and the General Counselor Bill Pencharz,<br />

since year 2000. Alan Truscott was President Emeritus<br />

until his death in 2005. The current President Emeriti are<br />

Tommy Sandsmark and Henry Francis<br />
