7. Stress: *decrease sensory overload:<br />
sound/auditory overload<br />
• No TV or radio at night or in the background<br />
• Listen <strong>for</strong> odd noises in the sleeping area (try to get it<br />
quiet in the bedroom): refridgerator, near-‐by traffic,<br />
hea'ng system/air condi'oning, 'cking clocks, etc.<br />
• Be clear when you speak<br />
• Keep a quiet 'me <strong>for</strong> doing school or therapy work to<br />
help focus<br />
• Use classical music or choir music, but never “just as a<br />
background”. Play it with inten'on <strong>and</strong> loud enough to<br />
fill the home at that 'me – <strong>and</strong> at that 'me only. Avoid<br />
most other music. Use the walkman <strong>for</strong> yourself.<br />
• Limit the music 'me in the home. Have scheduled<br />
quiet 'me<br />
• Watch TV quietly when children are sleeping<br />
