<strong>Warsash</strong> <strong>Maritime</strong> <strong>Resources</strong><br />
What’s available?<br />
The books for maritime subjects are mainly<br />
located on the ground floor of <strong>Warsash</strong> Library.<br />
There is an historical collection of maritime<br />
books on the first floor of the Library and an<br />
archive of journals and newspaper.<br />
From the Library <strong>Portal</strong> search the Library Catalogue<br />
to find out what titles and information types are<br />
available. Enter a few keywords into the search field, or<br />
select to access all aspects of the catalogue,<br />
including Article QuickSearch which lets you to search<br />
for journal articles within a pre-defined set of databases<br />
relating to your subject area. (Sign into the catalogue to<br />
gain full access via top right-hand link on catalogue page).<br />
Journals, eJournals & magazines<br />
The library subscribes to a number of journal titles<br />
relating to the maritime resources. Most of the titles<br />
are shelved on with the book stock on the ground<br />
floor.<br />
Many journals are available in electronic format<br />
(ejournal) check the A-Z list of eJournals /<br />
Newspapers on the Library <strong>Portal</strong> – this will tell you if it<br />
is available electronically and how to access it.<br />

Databases<br />
Choose the subject area <strong>Maritime</strong> from the<br />
eRESOURCES drop down list (image previous page).<br />
Choose from the Sub Categories or select Key <strong>Resources</strong><br />
or ALL. Click on the name of the eResource (examples<br />
opposite) to start searching. Alternatively, use<br />
CrossSearch to search up to ten eResource at one time,<br />
tick the e<strong>Resources</strong> required and enter a simple or<br />
advanced search. NB. Not all databases can be crosssearched.<br />

Some databases will give you the fulltext of an<br />
article, others just a short summary (abstract). Use<br />
these icons to see if the<br />
fulltext is available elsewhere or in print.<br />
Passwords:<br />
Off campus make sure that you Log In using<br />
your University username and password. Some<br />
e<strong>Resources</strong> have a different login. Use to find<br />
out access information and instructions for each<br />
eResource.<br />
Reports, Charts, Videos and DVDs<br />
Admiralty Charts covering the waters around the British Isles including large scale of local areas can<br />
be found in the large map drawers located on the ground floor.<br />
<strong>Maritime</strong> related videos and DVDs are located on the first floor. Many TV programmes are available<br />
online for you to download this means that you can watch them on a PC as long as you have access to<br />
the internet.<br />

to publisher’s restrictions full text delays can<br />

M Notices and Statutory Instruments including regulations for merchant seaman issued by the<br />
<strong>Maritime</strong> and Coastguard Agency are shelved are located in the ‘quick reference’ section.<br />

The Quick reference (QRF) section contains a variety of reference books including company, shipping<br />
and maritime directories, ship registers, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, local maps and careers<br />
