Warsash Maritime Resources
What’s available?
The books for maritime subjects are mainly
located on the ground floor of Warsash Library.
There is an historical collection of maritime
books on the first floor of the Library and an
archive of journals and newspaper.
From the Library Portal search the Library Catalogue
to find out what titles and information types are
available. Enter a few keywords into the search field, or
select to access all aspects of the catalogue,
including Article QuickSearch which lets you to search
for journal articles within a pre-defined set of databases
relating to your subject area. (Sign into the catalogue to
gain full access via top right-hand link on catalogue page).
Journals, eJournals & magazines
The library subscribes to a number of journal titles
relating to the maritime resources. Most of the titles
are shelved on with the book stock on the ground
floor.
Many journals are available in electronic format
(ejournal) check the A-Z list of eJournals /
Newspapers on the Library Portal – this will tell you if it
is available electronically and how to access it.

Databases
Choose the subject area Maritime from the
eRESOURCES drop down list (image previous page).
Choose from the Sub Categories or select Key Resources
or ALL. Click on the name of the eResource (examples
opposite) to start searching. Alternatively, use
CrossSearch to search up to ten eResource at one time,
tick the eResources required and enter a simple or
advanced search. NB. Not all databases can be crosssearched.

Some databases will give you the fulltext of an
article, others just a short summary (abstract). Use
these icons to see if the
fulltext is available elsewhere or in print.
Passwords:
Off campus make sure that you Log In using
your University username and password. Some
eResources have a different login. Use to find
out access information and instructions for each
eResource.
Reports, Charts, Videos and DVDs
Admiralty Charts covering the waters around the British Isles including large scale of local areas can
be found in the large map drawers located on the ground floor.
Maritime related videos and DVDs are located on the first floor. Many TV programmes are available
online for you to download this means that you can watch them on a PC as long as you have access to
the internet.

to publisher’s restrictions full text delays can
sometimes occur.

The Quick reference (QRF) section contains a variety of reference books including company, shipping
and maritime directories, ship registers, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, local maps and careers
information.
