Jordan Tourism Satellite Accounts - 2010 Definitions & Acronyms • Inbound Tourism Data is measured by the Department of Statistics through a survey that runs from 1 st July to 30 th June. Consequently data relating to inbound tourism covers this period and is shown crossing over two calendar years (e.g. 2010/11). • Domestic Tourism Expenditure is defined as the expenditure incurred as a direct result of resident visitors travelling within Jordan. • Inbound Tourism Expenditure is defined as the expenditure incurred as a direct result of inbound visitors travelling to Jordan. • Internal Tourism Expenditure is the sum of domestic tourism expenditure and inbound tourism expenditure. • Tourism Direct Gross Value Added (TDGVA) is the value added generated by all resident industries of Jordan in the provision of goods and services to inbound and domestic tourists in response to their expenditure. • Tourism Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total market value of tourism goods and services produced in an economy after deducting the cost of goods and services utilised in the process of their production, but before deducting allowances for the consumption of fixed capital. • UNWTO is the United Nations World Tourism Organization. • JD is Jordanian Dinar. • VFR is an acronym for visiting friends and relatives. 4
