Commencement date <strong>and</strong> duration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> contract<br />
The contract commences on <strong>the</strong> date <strong>and</strong> at <strong>the</strong> time<br />
mentioned in <strong>the</strong> special <strong>terms</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>conditions</strong>.<br />
It is entered into for 1 year. It will be tacitly extended on<br />
every <strong>annual</strong> renewal date for a fur<strong>the</strong>r period <strong>of</strong> 1 year,<br />
without any formalities.<br />
The contract will not be extended if it is terminated by<br />
registered letter at least 3 months prior to <strong>the</strong> <strong>annual</strong><br />
renewal date.<br />
right <strong>of</strong> cancellation – only applicable if<br />
<strong>the</strong> agreement was concluded remotely.<br />
The policyholder is entitled to inform <strong>the</strong> insurer that he is<br />
cancelling <strong>the</strong> “<strong>ING</strong> Lion Assistance” agreement, without<br />
payment <strong>of</strong> any penalty or providing reasons, within 14<br />
calendar days. This period starts to run from <strong>the</strong> date<br />
on which <strong>the</strong> policyholder has received all contractual<br />
<strong>conditions</strong> (special <strong>and</strong> <strong>general</strong> <strong>terms</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>conditions</strong>) <strong>and</strong><br />
all precontractual information (product sheet) by e-mail. The<br />
policyholder may exercise this right by sending a registered<br />
letter to: Inter Partner Assistance SA/NV, Avenue Louise/<br />
Louizalaan 166, PB 1 – 1050 Brussels.<br />
Cancellation by <strong>the</strong> policyholder becomes effective as<br />
soon as it is communicated. If <strong>the</strong> policyholder cancels <strong>the</strong><br />
agreement after it has already come into effect, he will be<br />
obliged to pay <strong>the</strong> premiums for <strong>the</strong> period that cover was<br />
provided. These sums are <strong>the</strong>n payment for <strong>the</strong> services<br />
that have already been provided by <strong>the</strong> insurance company.<br />
If <strong>the</strong> policyholder exercises <strong>the</strong> right <strong>of</strong> cancellation, <strong>the</strong><br />
insurer must repay all premiums <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r amounts that it<br />
has received in connection with <strong>the</strong> policyholder’s “<strong>ING</strong> Lion<br />
Assistance” within no more than 30 calendar days, subject<br />
to <strong>the</strong> deduction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> aforementioned fee for <strong>the</strong> financial<br />
services that have already been provided. This period starts<br />
on <strong>the</strong> day that <strong>the</strong> insurer receives notice <strong>of</strong> cancellation by<br />
registered letter.<br />
The insurer also has a right <strong>of</strong> cancellation. Cancellation<br />
by <strong>the</strong> insurer will only become effective 8 days after it is<br />
communicated.<br />
Termination<br />
Form<br />
Notice <strong>of</strong> termination must always be served, ei<strong>the</strong>r:<br />
• by registered letter; or<br />
• by bailiff’s writ; or<br />
• by h<strong>and</strong>ing over <strong>the</strong> letter personally to <strong>the</strong> addressee in<br />
exchange for pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> receipt.<br />
At <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> current period<br />
The contract is entered into for a period <strong>of</strong> 1 year.<br />
It will <strong>the</strong>n be tacitly extended for consecutive periods <strong>of</strong> 1<br />
year.<br />
The insurer <strong>and</strong> policyholder may terminate <strong>the</strong> contract at<br />
least 3 months before <strong>the</strong> expiry <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>annual</strong> renewal date.<br />
In case <strong>of</strong> damage or loss<br />
By <strong>the</strong> policyholder<br />
The policyholder may terminate <strong>the</strong> contract within 1 month<br />

<strong>of</strong> payment or notice <strong>of</strong> refusal from <strong>the</strong> insurer to pay<br />
compensation. The notice <strong>of</strong> termination takes effect 3<br />
months after <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> service.<br />
By <strong>the</strong> insurer<br />
With effect from 3 months after <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> service by <strong>the</strong><br />
insurer if it decides, after a loss, to terminate <strong>the</strong> agreement<br />
within 1 month <strong>of</strong> payment or notice <strong>of</strong> refusal to pay<br />
compensation.<br />
In case <strong>of</strong> tariff adjustments or an amendment<br />
to <strong>the</strong> insurance <strong>terms</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>conditions</strong><br />
The policyholder may terminate <strong>the</strong> contract:<br />
• within 30 days <strong>of</strong> notice <strong>of</strong> a tariff adjustment or <strong>of</strong> an<br />
amendment to <strong>the</strong> insurance <strong>terms</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>conditions</strong>, if this<br />
notice was given at least 4 months prior to <strong>the</strong> <strong>annual</strong><br />
renewal date <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> contract.<br />
• within 3 months to be calculated from <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> that<br />
notice if it was given less than 4 months prior to <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>annual</strong> renewal date <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> contract.<br />
The notice <strong>of</strong> termination takes effect 1 month after it is<br />
served.<br />
The obligations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> insured<br />
Duties <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> insured in case <strong>of</strong> damage<br />
The insured must take all reasonable measures to avoid <strong>and</strong><br />
limit <strong>the</strong> consequences <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> loss.<br />
The insured undertakes towards <strong>the</strong> insurer:<br />
• to h<strong>and</strong> over <strong>the</strong> supporting documents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> costs<br />
incurred;<br />
• to provide pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> events that entitle him to cover.<br />
Sanctions<br />
If <strong>the</strong> insured fails to comply with one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> aforementioned<br />
obligations <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> insurer suffers loss as a result, <strong>the</strong> insurer<br />
will be entitled to reduce <strong>the</strong> cover in proportion to <strong>the</strong> loss<br />
that it has suffered.<br />
The insurer may refuse cover if <strong>the</strong> insured has failed to<br />
comply with <strong>the</strong> aforementioned obligations with fraudulent<br />
intent.<br />
premium payment<br />
The premium, including taxes <strong>and</strong> costs, must be paid<br />
in advance on <strong>the</strong> due date after receipt <strong>of</strong> a request for<br />
payment.<br />
non-payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> premium<br />
If <strong>the</strong> premium is not paid on <strong>the</strong> due date, <strong>the</strong> insurer may<br />
terminate <strong>the</strong> contract on condition that <strong>the</strong> policyholder<br />
has been given a notice <strong>of</strong> default, ei<strong>the</strong>r by way <strong>of</strong> a<br />
bailiff’s writ or a letter sent by registered post. The notice<br />
<strong>of</strong> termination takes effect after <strong>the</strong> expiry <strong>of</strong> a period <strong>of</strong><br />
2 weeks, calculated from <strong>the</strong> day following service or <strong>the</strong><br />
posting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> registered letter.<br />
pre-existing insurance<br />
The services <strong>and</strong> repayments stipulated in this contract apply<br />
only as a supplement to earlier contracts that cover <strong>the</strong> same<br />
risks or as a supplement to social security payments to which<br />
<strong>the</strong> insured is entitled.
